Seemed like yesterday everything was just a bit "off."

Aside from the inauspicious anniversary we had, it seemed like a day when nothing really went right.

MOL was a mess, as was another site I visit regularly for a quick pick-me-up. Child #2 suddenly, and virtually in mid-stride, up and refused (literally kicking and screaming) to go to school. Never, ever done that before and it's completely out of character.

Lot's of other little things too numerous to mention added up to a very upsetting and frustrating day. Or was it just the "backdrop?"

Hope everyone made it through. I coped by NOT watching, reading, whatever, anything 9/11 related (most especially NOT Dubya's televised address). Not an easy task.

MOL still seems to be a mess. At least I could get in this morning, but no searching success at all and WAY slow posting. I couldn't find anything explanatory .... Dave? Jamie? What's going on?

As I posted in detail in some other places, when I managed to get in at all, it was a pretty crummy day for me too - couldn't listen to the radio replay the 5-years-ago news reports without breaking down and then had a horrendous experience trying to get my new refrigerator delivered. (Supposedly now to be delivered today.)

Hopefully today will be better for all of us.

Did you ever get your kid to go to school?

MATB: Does "wonk" not refer to somebody posessing a freakish fluency in some particular discipline or field of knowledge?

I guess your perjorative use of the word is a personal one, and that's just fine with me, but I just thought I'd butt in and display some of my own vocabular wonkery.

End of thread drift...

-s.

Here's what we received from our server company:

Earlier this afternoon, our monitoring system detected that your
server was unresponsive. A data center technician investigated the
issue and discovered that the powersupply on the machine had failed.

We replaced the server's chassis (powersupply, motherboard, ram,
cpu, etc) and the server came back online. We monitored the machine
as it came back up and noticed no abnormal behavior.

Well, things aren't running as normal and we've been trying to alleviate the problem ever since. Hopefully we'll be back to normal soon.

Huh? I use wonky the same way as MATB. Google it.

Soda,

Wonk and wonky have different meanings, above and beyond the fact that one is a noun and one is an adjective.

I see you're no longer banned. Welcome back.
