Insite, seriously, get a grip.
I am jewish and Straw was suspended for the inslut that was included in his comments, not for defending jews or Israel, which plenty of people have done on this board without insults and without being suspended. Indeed, neither jews nor Israel were really attacked on the thread in question, it was American support for Israel that was attacked (or rather posited as one of the inspirations for Al Queda, which it certainly is, though no the main one). I happen to think that America should support Israel, while at the same time working to get the two sides to sit down and negotiate a settlement.
I will be lighting six candles tonight and will be very mellow. |

I am now prepared to answer Ashear's ramble since I have a few minutes to spare.
You strike me as the type of Jew who would have marched with Martin Luther King Jr. or even welcomed Hitler's rise to power. In both cases as we now know these people (Germans and the African American leadership)have turned against Jews and everything they represent.
My suggestion, take your religion to heart, understand opposing anything Israel does means you are asking your fellow Jews to risk security and survival. As "sitting duck" Jews have all to often learned, failure to react and respond is the difference between life and death. Lucky for you and yours it's a situation you have yet to be confronted with. Just remember, those in Israel can't say the same thing.

...or even welcomed Hitler's rise to power?!? I have read a bit of history, and I don't recall too many Jews welcoming Hitler's rise to power. Certainly many others both in and out of Germany saw Nazism as a defense against Communism, but I don't recall too many Jews taking this point of view. |
