Am I the only one who is really aggrivated by the replacement of the MOL classifieds by an auction? I just want to buy/sell some stuff at a fixed price; the auction board seems very awkward for this.

Joe, the classified's are still available.

Look under "Free Classifieds" in the general areas section of the main menu.

I'm looking at finding a happy medium between the two in '04. Yes there is a free classified section on the message board that you can use.

The problem we were having with the previous classifieds is that everyone wasn't able to edit or delete their own listings. I would get many requests to update or alter postings and there were many accidental duplicate postings.

When the auction site went up, I got nothing from praises from most everyone. The script we're using is pretty solid and the maintenance on our end has gone down considerably. You can also post pictures which we couldn't do before. The bidding hasn't been as high as I would've hoped. So I'll look into a cross between the two. Please try out the auction site in the meantime.

Thanks for your responses. I realize the classified section still exists but its use is not encouraged. It appears that the volume of ads on the auction board has declined severly when compared with the old classifieds. The ability to post pictures is a mixed blessing for those who still have 56k dial-up access; many people don't realize just how large some of their digital images are!
