Last October, I responded to a flyer slipped in the N-R for a screening for aortic aneurisms. Because this problem runs in my family, I decided to take advantage of the program. The actual test required me to fast for 6 hours prior to the test, which was scheduled for early afternoon. They ran the different scans & informed me that there were no pressing emergencies for me to be concerned about & that the test results would be interpreted by a doctor & mailed to me within 21 days. Four weeks later, when i called to inquire about the results, I was told that they were lost in the mail & that I would have to go to Irvington to re-take the tests. The series of tests that I took cost $109. I declined their offer & asked for a refund of the fee, which I received in early December along with a letter apoligizing for the inconvenience & an assurance that this was not an indication of how they operated. IMHO, considering that I lost a day's work, not to mention the inconvenience of fasting, they should have offerd to re-test me at no charge. Has anyone else had any experience with this outfit? |

No, but I think your response is reasonable. Makes you wonder, doesn't it? Maybe you should retake the test elsewhere. Ask your doctor or maybe a cardiologist.

Only problem is that the same tests would cost alot more[even with insurance]which is what made Lifeline so attractive. They seemed to have found a nice little health care niche.I'm just disappointed they lost my results. |

George - not to be overly dramatic, but if your are at risk from family history, get the test. My mother, a heavy smoker, didn't have a routine chest x-ray for several years because insurance didn't cover it. We've been dealing with her lung cancer for close to a year. It wasn't worth saving $300. |

When something seems suprisingly inexpensive, it usually is for a reason. In this case it was their inept handling of the results. I agree with greenetree. If it really is a serious risk, spend the extra money and get the test. It may be the best investment you ever made. |

I finally spoke with someone at lifeline today, and they agreed to re-schedule me for the tests on Jan.31 at no charge.I can now say that they handled this matter in a satisfactory manner and would suggest that anyone with a family history or concerns, take advantage of this service. The next screening is Jan.31 at Winchester Gardens.Appts.are needed and can be made at 1-800-449-2389. |
