"Twas the night before Christmas,
& all thru the 'hood
Not a creature was stirring [well actually,
many creatures were stirring]
not even a gangsta'

The west-siders were huddled
around the warmth of a space heater
While outside the headlights
Were disappearing from their Beemer

Profeta was hoping
the citizens would see the light
Inwardly he was fuming
at being beat by Bette White.

The nervous citizen on Jacoby
was walking the beat
If things didn't change soon
he was thinking of packing some heat.

The MOL'ERS on their keyboards
were clicking away
They do lots of talking
with nothing to say.

The white folks were avoiding
Springfield Avenue
They would only go there
for paint and a 'do.

Santa lay bleeding
on Lexington
He was mugged on Prospect
he thought he was in Irvington.

So this Christmas
if you feel a chill
Say a prayer for Maplewood
its quickly going downhill.

Wishing you a holiday at least as cheerful as your poetry.

Anon,

Not more idiotic then all those bigotted rants about eruvs and Orthodox jews that Maplewodians (at least those on MOL) have been obsessing about for the last few days. My god - I haven't seen so many postings about education or war in Iraq. Looking at those posts, yes - Maplewood IS going down the hill.

Haven't we all anything more important to worry about?

Maplewood is "going downhill" because of a few posts on MOL? I think not.

Merry Christmas/Happy Hannukah.

Snif snif.....thanks Harold....brings back memories of living in the Hilton section for 38 years! Rumor has it that Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton are already organizing a march for Martin Luther King Day. Think I heard that on News12 NJ.
Good luck....

Why shouldn't black leaders have a march on MLK day?

Is there a problem if Rudy Giuliani and Mario Cuomo organize a march on Columbus Day or if Ted Kennedy and Bill O'Reilly organize one on St. Patrick's Day?
