Out again. This is the third time. Each time, they replace the modem. I wonder if they really need to replace the line? Anyone else had problems with recurring outage? I have to wait a week for an appointment. |

I've had it for about 18 months now. I'm trying to remember if I've ever had an outage. Maybe once, but maybe not. I wonder why you have problems and I don't.

Well think twice before switching to Verizon's DSL. About two to three times a year things get hinky. Then I gotta put in major time convincing them it's happening... AND the land-line goes out whenever it rains hard, the cell phone reception (Cingular) is non-existant at my end of the block, and my neighbors and I keep getting each others mail. I truely love Maplewood but it's hardly the communication capital of the world! |

I've had Comcast for over a year. Lately, it seems so slow! I know I'm working on a 9.0, 5-year-old IMac, but really! Every internet site warns me that I don't have enough shock something or other, so perhaps it's my computer, not Comcast. |

I've had Comcast cable modem for six years (not long after they introduced it), and in that time frame it's gotten much, much better in the past few years. Six years ago we used to get outages about every two months. Now, I can't remember getting one in at least a year. The technology is worlds better than it used to be. |

We've had it for three years. Occasionally (like three times a year) we have to reboot the modem, but otherwise no problems. I think Themp probably has a line problem. |

I did create my own hub in the basement, with a four way splitter and cables that I crimped myself, but It isn't rocket science, and they should be able to test the signal somehow, right? |

Yes, they should be able to, but that doesn't mean they should be willing to. It would be a pain but maybe you should take that splitter out and hook up your cable modem in the basement to see how it works. If it works, you know your wiring is at fault. And while it's true that it's not rocket science, that means it's easy to do right, but it's even easier to do wrong. That's why I don't go to quickie oil change places. Not saying you're incompetent at wiring. Just that things can go wrong. I'm a software guy, and I have found a huge number of problems that seemed like software to be the fault of cabling. Cables are not as reliable as we'd like to think.

I think it is the NSA tapping into Themp's cable lines. |

We use Verizon DSL and have never had a problem in the last five years. We use Comcast for the cable TV and have had more service outages than I can remember. |

Also, if the cable company doesn't know that you have several connections, your signal may be weak. Not that you would cheat the cable company or anything. |

Am I supposed to pay per TV? We don't have digital cable. I thought it was ok to split the signal between two tvs. |

I think so. I know they charge us for a second connection. We use a splitter on one of them to get the internet, but they actually did the installation for that.

Yes, they want extra payment for additional TV's. Not that it costs more to provide it, but the price is based on the value you get from being able to watch more than one.

comcast does not charge for additional tv's for regular cable service-they will charge an installation fee if you have them run the wires to the new set. You will have to pay for multiple digital boxes. we have digital box on one set and three add'l sets with the regular cable plus service(no extra charges) oots |
