Am I the only one who thinks that it's really unfair that the Hilton section is ALWAYS scheduled for Monday pickup for recycling and trash? It means we don't get trash pickup on any weekends that have a holiday in them. We can sometimes go four weeks without recycling.

I wish at least we could alternate every few years.

I thought if the trash pick-up falls on the holiday they pick-up the next day? Frankly I would love to have Mondays as my pick-up day!

Picked up the day after Thanksgiving since Thursday is the norm pick-up day. Though Christmas was on a Sunday it was "celebrated" on Monday but there wasn't a pickup on Tuesday. Hope they're ready for what awaits them on Thursday....
by the way...no tip from us. They nit-pick our trash so too bad. I don't get a tip from every client I deal with.

Ceidefields,

Look at the bright side. While you may miss the occasional pick-up due to a holliday, the folk in the Tuscan section are guaranteed to not get a recycling pick-up on the fourth thursday of November.

First of all, they don't bump it to Tuesday, they just miss us entirely. And I second blackcat - I have 12 bags of trash waiting for pickup (Christmas dinner - we already hauled all the wrapping paper to the dump ourselves).

And it's not "occasional", it's most months of the calendar year. Whereas if you're scheduled for a Saturday, like Wyoming, for Recycling pickup, you rarely miss a pickup.

I would just like to see the schedule rotated every now and then. I guess if you don't have trash spilling out of your garage, you don't really understand the implications of a Monday pickup.

Ceidefields, I have had trash spilling out of my garage and more. I take it to the curb and they pick it all up. Surprisingly this year they picked up all of our trash and we didn't even bring the extra bags to the curb.

Ceidefields,

If its not every Christmas, or whatever holiday, it is occasional.

In eleven years, I've never had a recycling pick-up on the fourth thursday of November.

We have Monday trash pick-up and have seldom had a problem. Have you tried calling town hall? Perhaps someone there can intercede for you.

I'm surprised. We're Monday, too, and for years we didn't get the Monday holiday pick up. ABout a year or two ago, this was changed & they started coming around on Tuesdays after holidays. Since we pay for it, it was logical.

I would call WM directly and complain. In the past, when they have missed me, someone has made a special trip to my house to get the garbage.

greenetree... do you live in the Hilton section as well?

We seem to be in the same boat as Ceidefields. This is now the second week that our trash hasn't been picked up on the scheduled Monday collection because of the holidays. We were home all last week and didn't notice that WM made any "make-up" collection.

I am unclear if we're paying the same amount quarterly even when WM isn't showing up on scheduled pick-up days.

The 4th garbage section is not just Hilton. The western boundary is Prospect St. The southern boundary is Courter and Springfield Aves. The northern boundary is Elmwood Ave. We get pickups on Monday and Thursday, which means we miss Monday holidays and Thanksgiving.

I agree it's not "fair" but I don't find it to be a major inconvenience. I have enough space for a week's garbage in my two cans.

Ceidefelds- "like Wyoming". Saturday is not that great - especially if the holiday is that day. But whatever - we just take all the extra (wrappings, boxes etc) out to the curb and they take it. ANd Saturday means that the truck beeping and grinding comes up the street at 6;15am just when you thought you'd get an extra hour to sleep in. So....

Well we haven't had pickup this week yet, nor last week, and looking at the calander I'm guessing that MLK day will be no pickup as well, so in a month that is three pickups missed out of 8, and I"m sure I"ll be billed the same.

We have much too much trash anyway. I wish they'd start taking plastic again, that would be a big help.

slippy, you can haul the plastic to the Maplewood Recycling Center on Boyden. (At least it's light weight.) It's open on Saturday mornings as well as weekdays until 3, I think.
