Don't forget to bring your new or gently used books to OLS today, between 12-4. All books collected will be sent down to Slidell LA to restock school and public library shelves.

For 2006, this book drive replaces the Reading=Success book drive held each year to benefit the SOMSD classrooms and libraries -- so don't hold back your books!!

Collection will be held today only.

Thanks!!

Here's a nicely produced video geared toward school children to watch in rememberance.

WONDERFUL!

My son got that book for his 5th birthday and it's one of his favorites (which he reads all year around).

Thanks for that video. We have other Scholastic DVDs but I am going to download this to my pc - to share with others.

Life's most urgent question is: What are you doing for others? (Martin Luther King Jr. (1929 - 1968)

Once again, our two town community has demonstrated that we know that "we are tied together in the single garment of destiny, caught in an inescapable network of mutuality." Neighbors today again redefined the boundaries of our neighborhood by caring for our extended family who were so hurt by the autumn hurricanes. Dozens and dozens of you gave of yourself on this “day of service.” From the precious Girl Scout Troop 230 and the equally precious and stalwart volunteers who have come out every year of the Reading = Success program to help sort and pack books to the families who lugged in boxes, bags and crates of books; today you moved us further toward building our beloved community.

Through your efforts, we will be sending an amazing Five Thousand Seven Hundred and Fifty Six (5756) books to our neighbors in Slidell, LA!

Congratulations and great thanks to you all,

Barbara Heisler Williams
