http://www.apple.com/pro/music/guitarfestival/ This year’s New York Guitar Festival brings together 60 of the world’s finest guitarists for over three weeks of performances all over Manhattan. How do you manage such an affair? It’s all in the Macs, says festival founder David Spelman. “Macintosh computers and software are involved in just about every aspect of running the festival,” he says. “I can’t imagine how we’d do what we do were it not for these tools.” “Festival guitarists like Dominic Frasca used to schlep around a huge amount of equipment, all sorts of outboard gear and signal processing and mixing equipment. Now he just brings his PowerBook. That’s been more and more the case since 1999.” American Music Club front man Mark Eitzel says, Why a Mac? “Well, it’s a really stable platform and it’s really easy to use. I really appreciate that. When I’m learning all the audio tools and plug-ins, I don’t really need anything else or have too much to think about besides the music.” |
