The Maplewood Public Library, through the efforts of Director Jane Kennedy and administrator Joanne Beckerich, is donating funds to the Jazz & Film Series to pay for the concert DVDs. These DVDs will be available to the public as the series progresses. Also, the library will be an educational resource for the event, providing supplementary reading lists. The next Jazz & Film event, a tribute to blues pianists with Tricia Woods, is slated to take place on Friday April 21 at the Maplewood Memorial Public Library on Baker St. The third – dedicated to Louis Armstrong--will take place this fall at the Burgdorff Cultural Center on Durand Rd. |

The film clips for Friday's show are awesome--- some old shots from Nat King Cole's TV show, Billie Holiday singing "God Bless the Child" with Count Basie, a young Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald with Frank Sinatra ca. 1960. The live music will compliment the clips beautifully. |
