A lot of great choices for music this weekend,(and not just the stuff in this post) --something for every price range, every taste and every age. Read on, and try to get out!

Friday February 10- "Jazz and Film" Series kicks off

“Jazz & Film: Legendary Jazz Vocalists” will be held on Friday, February 10, 2006, at 8:00 P.M. at 1978 Maplewood Arts Center, 1978 Springfield Ave., Maplewood. Admission is $10 per person. Seating is limited, so reservations are recommended – call (973) 477-4229. The first in a three-part series, Jazz & Film is presented by Maplewood Community Music in conjunction with the Maplewood Public Library.

The event features live music throughout the evening by a jazz combo performing the great works of classic jazz vocalists such as Nat King Cole, Joe Williams, and Ella Fitzgerald, plus film clips from noted concerts. The evening will include a short discussion period and refreshments.

Music for kids returns Saturday Morning 2/11

Music for Kids presents "Richard Stillman's Tap Dancing Troubadours of Vaudeville" on Saturday February 11, 2006 at 9:30 and 11:00 AM at the Burgdorff Cultural Center 10 Durand Road, Maplewood, NJ. Tickets are $5 at the door--no reservations necessary.

Richard Stillman, who has performed on Sesame Street and Shining Time Station, will introduce the joy of the Vaudeville style music and tap dance using a variety of music instruments and songs. This extremely entertaining program is the 3rd in this season’s Music for Kids concerts. The fourth and final program is on Saturday, March 18th, featuring the Maplewood Community Band in a program of “Wind Classics for Kids”.

Or the 6 piece Scott Buck Band at St. James Gate. How we're gonna fit guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, harp and violin on one tiny stage is anyone's guess.
