There are still some tickets available for the rockin' event of the season -- Battle of the Basement Bands 7! The show is part block party, part rock & roll show, and completely for the benefit of Habitat for Humanity of Newark. That's right, 100% of your ticket purchase goes directly to Habitat. This year's event features performances by Big Train, Emotional Rex, The Nightmares, Walk The Dog, and 3rd Gear. The "Lucky 7" edition of the show promises to be the biggest and best ever, so do NOT miss out on the event of the season!

3rd Gear AGAIN!?! Those guys suck. I'm gonna show up just to vote against them. There are so many other bands around here that are wayyyy better. |

Lamé helps, lame does not. It's the amazing power of the accent acute. |

Guy, this show has sold out, the last several years. I don't know how many tix are still available. If you are thinking about going, you should probably purchase soon. Robin Hutchins, Mailboxes Etc, Stories in Motion |

In the interest of preventing a mob scene, I should probably mention that I will not be playing in this year's Battle, nor will I be wearing my black plastic pants (which no longer fit). However, I will be attending the event, and will be glad to sign autographs. Just tell me whose autograph you want me to sign, and I'll do it. |

Your black plastic pants don't fit? Is that your way of telling us you're starting a family? |

Due to last year's snow I was unable to attend the battle I was told that the tickets would be discounted this year. Is this still valid? If so,does anyone have any info on how to redeem? Thanks Lorraine |

Lorraine and others: If you have unused tix from last year please contact Chris Dickson: bigtraintracks@comcast.net ... You can use last years ticket to redeem half price tix for this year, however TOMORROW (Friday 3/3/06) will be the last day to take advantage of this special offer. We anticipate a last minute run on tickets and cannot guarantee any tickets will be available for the discount ... As of 9 o'clock this morning Robin Hutchins Gallery only had four tickets left. We're not sure where the other outlets are in their numbers ... Please understand that after the small amount taken for production costs (PA, publicity), all remaining money goes to support Habitat for Humanity -Newark. Please know that your charitable contibution is warmly received. |

ticket sales have been strong, but it turns out there will be a limited number of tix available at the door tonight. So if you haven't got around to getting tickets, don't despair -- you can still go. And everyone, remember to get there early and stay late. The live music will begin at 7 and be continuous until midnight. see you there! |

Rex rocked!! I think they deserved to win, but they had their work cut out for them after the fine performances from the other bands. Honestly, every band turned in a great set. I think musicme won for "Best Dressed" and the Nightmares definitely had the most adventurous set. It was a great night, as usual. |

We had a really fun night. Many folks pitched in to make the whole evening shine! We debuted some new material and I think it was well received. We'll go to the video tape to judge the performace aspect, but everything from the food and drink, the staging and sound and all the cooperation with the people at Our Lady of Sorrows went smoothly. I know the friends from Habitat for Humanity were pleased with the outcome. All the bands were great. It is interesting to see how the groups have all matured. Chris Dickson and Gary Shippy conceived the idea of pooling audiences and putting on the show as a benefit six or seven years ago. The bands are judged only by the amount of money that the audience members choose to buy votes with. As in any true democracy, the money decides the outcome. But what makes this event stand apart from the rest of Essex county politics is that the money does actually end up in the correct hands! Thanks to all involved. |

definitely -- thanks to Gary and Chris and everyone who worked so hard on this. It was a great time, and it was good to see how many people came out to support Habitat. We're glad to have been part of a such a positive vibe.
