I haven't seen it yet, but from what I know of the premise, was wondering if it was a remake (or ripoff?) of BBC's Hustle? It's currently airing here on AMC (the print ads were all over NYC). AMC site: http://hustle.amctv.com/players/index.jsp BBC site: http://www.bbc.co.uk/drama/hustle/ Hustle is a fast-paced, stylish show about a team of upscale con artists. They tend to target equally less-than-principled wealthy people. The characters are diverse in terms of background and skills, and all appealing in their own way, the writing is fun (lots of breaking the fourth wall), the cons are creative, situations are outrageous, and the humor is very cheeky. |

It was pretty good. I loved the interplay between the two detectives, one black and one Irish, who can't stand each other: O'Brien-"This must be a treat for you, riding in the FRONT of a police car." Evans- "Listen- I think I can hear you getting fatter." The woman detective was previously on "The Shield" as Shane's wife Mara, and Billy Gardell was on FX's "Lucky" with John Corbett. Seymour Cassell was on "Lucky" as well and is a great character actor. Steve Harris is great- I wondered when he'd pop up again since "The Practice" ended. The only thing I ever saw Dougray Scott in was "Ever After" with Drew Barrymore, but he's good as a slick operator. Shows some real promise... |

I thought the writing was pretty terrible. A much better one is "Thief" on FX with SO resident Andre Braugher. He's such a great actor. It just premiered this week and is probably being shown more than once. |

Thief was excellent and superior to Heist, but there's room for both. Andre Braugher is a phenomenol actor; one of television's all-time best. His work on Homicide ranks with Gandolfini and Chiklis, and it is unsyrpassed on network broadcast television. |

Andre's work on a short-lived medical show (Gideon's Crossing) was also great, I thought...also wonderful on Homicide was Andre's real-life wife, Ami Brabson, playing his character's wife. I look forward to this new show! |

I believe Andre used to live in South Orange at one time, I think Heist kinda sucks, but Thief rocks so far. |

Great Andre Braugher movie- "Thick As Thieves" with Alec Baldwin, Michael Jai White, Rebecca DeMornay and Bruce Greenwood. Circa 1999, HBO Original film. Great jazz soundtrack and clever screenplay (David Mamet, I think). It comes to mind because it's the only other role I know of where Andre plays a criminal. Worth a watch. |

Heist is awful. SO derivative. I can't imagine anyone who's seen Pulp Fiction and Ocean's Eleven enjoying this. |

Right- Ocean's Eleven wasn't derivative, was it? It's network television IOS- no Palm D'Or for anything with GEICO commercials. |

Not really. I mean, it was a remake, obviously, but it wasn't anything like the original. And it was a genre film in some ways, but it was a pretty different take on the genre. So no, it wasn't derivative in my opinion. Not like Heist, which is just a total bad ripoff. Totally unoriginal, bad writing. Hate it. So what if it's network television? There's still good network television and bad network television. This is bad. |

thought 2nd episode of Thief was just a notch down from 1st. A little too much philosophising and posturing from all. Still real good and I'm hanging with it. Maybe too much to ask to be as good as 1st episode which was dynamite. |

I was a big fan of "Homicide" and especially liked Andre Braugher and Yaphet Kotto. The character development was compelling and the plots were complex but not ridiculous to follow. I missed the first "Thief" and was really looking forward to catching the 2nd episode. But the level of violence was INTENSE! and I kept thinking I'd missed essential information, maybe from the first show. Anyone tape the first show or know if it'll be reshown??
