The Garden State Classic is a pecision (synchronized) ice skating competition featuring teams from all over the East coast, including our own South Mountain Synchroettes. There are many SOMA girls on the five teams fielded by the Synchroettes, from five-year-old beginners to high school seniors. They've worked hard and thye look beautiful -- come cheer them on today, drop by any time from 9-4! Our Preliminary (younger kids) team will skate at around 9am, the Youth (pre-juvenile) team will skate at 10:30am, the Juvenile team at around 1pm, and the teen team at 3pm. It's fun to watch, great for the kids, and little skaters shouldn't miss it. My daughter's been doing synchro for three years, and is on the Youth team in today's performance. We'll be there cheering her on -- look for the big foam "We're No. 1" hands to find us.

Two other points -- the correct spelling is "precision" (hey, it's early), and there is an admission fee -- not sure what it is, it's nominal and goes to benefit the club. Thanks.

Wish I had known about this yeasterday! My nephes would have liked to see this. A few months ago I had taken the two of them, along with a friend's daughter and one of her friends, skating at South Mountain. When the 'free skate' was over we had to walk through the other arena because the hall way ws closed off.

As we walked through, the kids saw the skaters and asked to stay. I thought for sure the boys would want no part of it, but even they wanted to stay! We only got to see three groups of girls skate. They were fantastic! All the kids asked if we could go sometime to watch a whole show.

Do you know when the next one is? Thanks!

There's an exhibition next Saturday, April 1, starting (I believe) at 5pm. The synchro teams will perform. You can call the arena for details, or I will post whenI hear. Hope to see you there, JTA!
