Apparently there is a website that tracks the calls and the winner every week has been ....drumroll please.... Taylor Hicks. What's up with that? I admit in the beginning I likedhim but his spastic moves are wearing on me and I just can't see him as the American Idol.

The website is http://dialidol.com/ . It predicts based on number of busy signals. It doesn't take into account text votes. They claim to be something like 80% accurate in their predictions. Paris was in their bottom 2 yesterday, but so was Katherine. |

I like Elliot and Chris, but they've got to get a vocal coach to do something about that annoying vibrato in their voices. I'm still holding out for Katherine. She's not perfect, but she has the foundation necessary for a successful career. I think she's best suited for a career on Broadway. Assess them this way: Who would you pay $50 or more to see perform? Elliot and Chris? Probably not. Taylor? Sure, if only for laughs. Katherine? Yes, because she's a great singer and engaging. |

Taylor Hicks is the latest endorsement on Votefortheworst.com! That may explain this week, but it still doesn't explain weeks before. |

Clearly, I'm a big fan of Katherine, but last night she picked the wrong songs and oversang them. We don't need another Christina Aguilera. Whether she wins or not, Katherine's challenge will be finding her niche in the market. |

Katherine was definately out of her league. She forgot the lyrics of the first song and clearly over sang the other. I thought Chris and Taylor would clearly out do the other 2, however, Elliot really impressed me. Surprisingly, he was the BEST performer last night. |

Stunned as well, but pleased. Elliott has a wonderful voice, far better than the 2 others left standing. Still can't see him as the Idol, but then I felt the same way about Reuben and Clay. |

mooewe, I agree with you on Elliot's voice. He's the only singer so farthat has grown in the competition. He's shown that he could sing various genres. I thought Chris & Taylor would have an edge with Elvis week, but Elliot out did them. He doesn't "look" like an American Idol, but he does have the pipes for one! |

Taylor and Elliot have heart...That is going to carry them I think. Taylor has a great voice in my opinion and passion is a different form from what is the norm these days...Elliot also has passion - my only concern for him is the warble in his voice.... |

I'm always surprised at how tough the judges are on Katherine. To me, she's stealing the show every song. I thought she hit a home run with all three performance. Eliot is off key often. Taylor still creeps me out. |

I think the judges expect more from Katherine because, at this point, she's the only contestant who has had formal training. For that reason, the bar has been set high for her and the judges' expectations for her performances are greater than those of Taylor and Elliot. Kat has complete control over her voice and should know when to utilize all of the techniques she's learned over the last 10-15 years. That's why I've been surprised to see her oversinging many of the songs she's selected. She's at her best when she holds back (that is, when she chooses NOT to emmulate Mariah Carey or Christina Aguilera), as she did last night with Over the Rainbow. Taylor and Elliot are out there "winging it." They may have experience performing, but they are not true vocalists with a solid background in music and voice. Their advantage over Kat is their "soul" and entertaining performances...which could carry either of them to a win. So what's most important to you? Do you want to be dazzled? -- Kat Do you want to be entertained? -- Taylor Do you want to be moved? -- Elliot

You know, even before Chris was booted I had lost interest this year. Not sure if it is the level of talent or lack thereof, or the lack of a compelling personality, or perhaps just AI boredom on my part. Last year was the first time I had ever watched it, and maybe it was just new to me whereas now the thrill is gone. |

I watched last night even though I vowed I wouldn't anymore after Chris got voted off. I thought it was boring and unoriginal. Katherine tried her best at making a Judy Garland face during Over the Rainbow and Taylor (who I now think is going to win) had to get those Joe Cocker-like facial expressions in during his performance. How about just being yourselves? There's a concept . . . |

I couldn't help but laugh when I read this Q&A with Chris last week, from AOL's web site. Did you ever use the Andrea Bocelli method of singing while lying down? You always want to take those things and use them, but we're so busy. Maybe I'll do that from now on. I'll probably get a vocal coach and start working on vocal techniques to season me for the tour.

Listen to the new AI album on AOL. http://music.aol.com/songs/new_releases_full_cds Chris and Elliot sound great. Ace sounds like a cross between Terence Trent Darby and Nick Lachey. Taylor sound good. Bad song choice by the producers for Kat. |

So, who won in your opinion? I barely listened in, but I think they made a HUGE mistake having that guy play the exit song at the end of the show (So You Had A Bad Day). He was SO much better than what little I heard from Taylor and Kat that he made them look like the amateurs that they are. I would vote for him over them anyday (and I even don't like that song very much). |

I saw the first number and the last number. My theory is that the better song is given to the contestant that the producers want to win. I don't know what Katherine sang, but that single "created" (I hate to use the word 'creative' in association with that mess) for Taylor was abominable. It should go to Taylor. Gimmicky persona aside, he has a great Joe Cocker thing going on and he's consistent. Katherine is more marketable to teeny-boppers, so who knows? |

If they're "throwing it" to anyone, it's Taylor, with Simon's "You've just won American Idol." I thought he was very "pitchy" during his last song. |

The "singles" created for the contestants must be very difficult to sing. They are so generic that they sound almost like any other song out there, but completely new to the contestants who are probably familiar with every other song they sang. Both songs sucked big time, and neither contestant was very good with them. I found it funny that Kat's song was very wrong for her range considering it was written for her. Kat needs to get more comfortable, it feels like she is playing to the audience and camera too much instead of feeling the music. Taylor has moments of "where's the camera" but when he gets in the zone he is great. I wish he had sung "Trouble" instead of "Levon". I think the competition really shows that despite the criticism of the general public's taste in music (Brittney et. al.) that a lot of people do appreciate individuality over a nice package. See Ruben vs. Clay, Fantasia vs. Diana. Taylor all the way. USA Today poll (oh so scientific) has him at 75%. |

The song written for Katherine was AWFUL. What a mess! Someone should have written a jazzy, bluesy song that showcased her voice. Same goes for Taylor, although his song was marginally better than hers, though that's not saying much. Overall, I though last night was a real dissapointment. Not at all exciting and very anti-climactic. I have always liked Katherine's voice when she sings the right songs and doesn't go overboard, but I have a feeling Taylor will win. He was far better than her last night. The audience seemed to think so too. Oh well. Would have loved to see Chris and Elliot duke it out... Bring on the Sopranos finale and how many more weeks until Entourage? |

A few observations from last night. I watched much of the first hour trying to kill time before Lost. I usually Tivo and just flip to the end but I figured I'd actually watch the last show. - Thank GOD I have Tivo. - Chris and Live rocked - Meatloaf???? - Mary J. Blige is simply one of the greatest singers on earth. Sorry Elliot. - I can't understand why anyone would pay to go to a concert where these people are forced to sing together. It is horrendous. - Prince??????????????????????????????????? - Even Katherine knew Taylor was going to win. |

I had it on in the background doing other stuff. Some of the songs were good. Clay looks great. That single Taylor has to release as his single is guaranteed to crash and burn any chance of a career that he could possibly have. When Katherine was singing with the other 5 women from the top 12 it was so obvious that she is the weakest one. Did anyone catch the Barbie Doll moment when, after Taylor won, Ryan asked Katherine how she felt and she said "I've waited for this my whole life?"
