Whitney....whitney...whitney.... in the words of Ricky Ricardo...."Wahhhappened!" The drug use seems to be getting worse and worse! I just loved that singing voice - so true and clear, and I remember her great style when she performed. She's been the butt of jokes, but this is so sad....really sad. I heard she's headed for "rock bottom" pretty soon. She and I are the same age and I hope she can turn herself around - if not for herself, but for her daughter. Her husband is a lost cause. I just needed to vent. |

Do you think it's a lot about Bobby? Was she messed up with bad boys before? I keep thinking about their kid...where is she when those nasty bathroom sink pictures are taken. What a waste. |

Whitney Houston's persistent downward slide aided and abetted by crack and you name it. Mess of pix in the tabloids allegedly of her sink area littered with drug paraphanalia, beer, etc. |

How many times has she been in rehab? It's amazing that she still does this. This woman is so talented. It is terrible what she is showing her daughter. |

A drugged-out wasted Whitney is better than a straight but wretched Celine. |

to this?
Don't blame B. Brown for this. She's a GROWN woman. She would have gotten there with or without his help. As Bill Parcells says, "You are what you are." |

I remember fondly that "..Dance with Somebody" video. What a lively, fresh cutie pie she was then, ready to take the world by storm. |

any of you folks have a drug problem or alcohol problem? B. Brown is a classic enabler. Yes she is a grown woman but unless you know addiction intimately, you can't say that because she is a grown woman she should know better. Of course she knows better, but addiction is stronger than "knowing better". And, unfortunately, I know whereof I speak. |

Duncan, She was drinking and smoking refer long before B. Brown. My spouse works at a firm that handled some of Whitney's interests. Once they had a meeting with her Asst. Robin and Whitney, Whitney is sitting in this meeting beer in one hand and she pulls out a joint like nobody's business. My spouse's co-worker was shocked. This was a little over 16 years ago. People are putting the blame on others, she wasn't FORCED to take these drugs, however, she IS now addicted and it's hard to seperate from that addiction. Her mother has tried and her once close friends have abandoned her. If she REALLY wants to help herself, she would admit herself to rehab indefinately. Yeh, Bobby doesn't help much (admitted alcoholic), but she has to help herself first. Unfortunately, unless the person is READY to ADMIT they have a problem, they're lost. God knows her mother, relatives and friends have tried to help her. It's sad that she has become this. |

any of you folks have a drug problem or alcohol problem? To answer that question… I have a relative. My mother had to go to court to take over her brother's interests because of his alcohol abuse. Since he's over 65, she worked out a plan for one of the VA hospitals to take him in as a boarder. |

Phenix...I don't dispute your post above. But I can say from a deeply personal place that admitting oneself to rehab is no where near as easy as that. Many, MANY people who really want to help themselves cannot do it and it has nothing to do at all with will power. I guess I bristle and the notion that somehow its as easy as saying "Well I better get myself into rehab and clean myself up". Cause it is not. I know this for a fact, on many levels. |

Duncan I know it isn't easy. A couple of years ago, there were rumors flying on the internet that Whitney was dead from an overdose. This caused her to admit herself into rehab as was told in an interview. She said, she hit rock bottom when she heard the rumor and was afraid that family members would be affected, especially the ones who haven't seen her in awhile. In my uncles case, alcohol has been ongoing for years. It's very frustrating. He DOESN"T want to help himself, then again, he doesn't have a spouse or kids to care for him. Whitney has a child and if she wants to live to see her grow-up, graduate, get married and live to see grandchildren, it's up to her to help herself before she self-destruct into a grave. BTW…have you seen the show "Intervention" on A&E? Pretty powerful. |

Unless she wants to be helped, she'll continue living in the nastiness that has become her life. I know many people who know W.H. and let me tell you, this ain't news to them. The Whitney we were intro'd to in the 80's was "manufactured" Whitney. Clive Davis found a gem, rubbed it clean and put it in every house in America. Clive gave us the Whitney he wanted us to see and hear -- but that wasn't really her. Whitney is a ghetto girl who likes to hang out, get high and fight with her man. Why do you think she and Bobby got together in the first place? Birds of a feather! Now the angel's vocal cords are damaged and the gravy train is about to end. Someone please save that daughter of theirs before the whole bottom falls out! |

Sbenois, I hate Celine's singing, too, but listen to this (illicit) recording of Whitney 'performing' at the winter Olympics. Why wasn't it televised, you ask? Listen to it and you'll know. http://www.itisplanb.com/whitney/whiney_ol..._longerclip.mp3 |

Deidra, I used the term "ghetto girl" to describe her mentality, not her once upon a time zip code. Anyone can be "ghetto" or "gully" or "trashy" and live in a mansion. It's not where she came from but her mentality. Thank you for telling us that Bobbi K. is no longer living with them -- that's good news. |

Friends of mine in the music biz corroborate what Kibbegirl said. Houston was into drugs long before Bobby entered her life, and she brought him into that lifestyle, from which neither is able to emerge for long. Very sad. |

I went to high school with Whitney (Mount Saint Domenics Academy in Caldwell). In high school she had a reputation of using drugs. Mostly marijuanna and cocaine. |

Now I have to disagree with Whitney bringing Bobby into that lifestyle, too. He was doing his thang long before he met Whitney, too. Instead of playing the blame game, tell it like it is. They had a lot in common when they met. It is sad because I was an original fan of both Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown. Maybe one day they will get it together, but even the biggest fan has her doubts now. |

I'm a Beantown gal and Bobby and I are about the same age. I remember when the Boston media captured them getting onto their first tour bus in front of their projects in Roxbury. I didn't know Bobby personally, but knew kids from my school who knew Bobby and/or his siblings. Rumors spread quickly about how they were getting ripped off by their manager, Maurice Starr and how Bobby was getting into trouble around the city and eventually with the law. After NE had made it big, they'd all come back to visit, but it was Bobby's visits that caused the most hype. He'd get drunk in local bars, fight and get arrested. It's like the Boston media loved to follow his every move when he came back home, because they knew something physical would happen sooner or later. I think many of his siblings, him included, had drug or drink problems over the years. All that to say is that I don't W.H. led Bobby into temptation. He was drinking and smoking long before she came into the picture. |
