Know I'm a little late, but last week, Mr. Kibbegirl and I took the boys to see The Gorillaz @ the Apollo -- HOT! The band was awesome and finally, we got to see them live sans the pupperty and animimation. Nena Cherry performed with them (remember her?) as well as Ike of "Ike" and Tina! Even Da La Soul performed live with them. Also, there was this gospel chorus consisting of kids and adults that were so incredible. The entire performance was stellar. The boys had a great time and Older Kibbegirl Boy even went back a second night with Daddy and a friend to enjoy it all over again. This was their only American stop, now they're off to the U.K. |

Mr. breal and our daughter went on Monday night. She LOVED the concert. Here, I"ll let her tell you herself: The concert was amazing, from Hewlett air-guitaring at Albarn during White Light, and Albarn serenading Hewlett during Hong Kong. I've heard recordings of Damon singing live at the Manchester concert (the DVD's out now), and I didn't actually expect much, but I'm glad I was wrong. Shaun Ryder and De La Soul (go Paspanoose. sp?) were the highlight guests of the evening, however (excluding Albarn, who isn't really a guest). And not to mention the Murdoc and 2D (2D is a close second to Damon Albarn...) puppets, who I heard, prior to the concert, were not going to "attend". Not to mention I was sitting an estimated !!20 Feet!! from Hewlett (the illustrator) for a portion of the concert. Just disappointed I was unable to get any autographs. I brought my special edition of Demon Days for nothing, I suppose. |

YEAH breal! Sounds like you had as much fun as we did! Pas de Nous (sp?) -- haven't heard that name in years :-) My little one was afraid of the Murdoch puppet, but settled down once the show began. On our night, there were technical difficultes, but that didn't stop the show from being hot. Our oldest went the second night with a friend (Daddy in tow, of course) and said everything was working a-okay and that the effects were awesome. I love this group and glad it's something the kids and I can enjoy together. I was a bit disappointed that on my night, they didn't perform "Clint Eastwood", but hey, can't have it all. |
