Tony is not pretending to be a tough guy in that scene, HE IS A TOUGH GUY! He's a ruthless gangster (at least he was before the lead poisoning). Watch Tony and Phil consolidate and whack John in prison. Phil has lost esteem for John because he cried at his daughter's wedding. Trivia: What is the first stop on the Shitbird Express? |

Agree with most of the observations above - but this episode IMO was about the "ideal" family vs. the real family. The ideal family has a big blow-out wedding (400+ G's), Mamma Sack barely squeezes into her dress, everyone is invited...etc. Reality is that Dad is hand-cuffed literally and emotionally by the Feds, Tony and Dad fake nice conversations while plotting to kill people and Tony can barely stand up - ironically from a botched hit while he's planning to take out true innocents with the same weapon he just survived. On his own turf Tony kicks some - shoots a fish in a barrel and pays the price for the gratuitous Alpha-posturing by throwing up his own blood. Looking forward to next week |

This episode felt kinda piece-y and flat to me. It never seemed to build up steam, and there wasn't even any heavy, head trip stuff. There were some good scenes. Always good to have a wedding scene in a mob movie or show. I don't know, though. Something was off. Melfi didn't sound like herself. Tony didn't act like himself. I wonder how involved Chase was with this one. |

Actually, I found the entire episode to be sad, pathetic, wanting -- and missing something. Maybe it was that the characters were a little off their game. Maybe it was Meadow and Finn, who looked so sad. Maybe it was the enormous Ginny Sack, almost fitting into her dress. Even the usually nauseating Vito was pathetic. |

Man, I LOVED the episode! I'm with Breal: a Mafia wedding is always a good thing to see. And the reference to "ONE" was great. "Isnt the father of the bride supposed to honor any request made on the day of his daughter's wedding?" That came to mind seconds before he said it. I assumed Vito had shot himself, I'd be surprised if he returned - although it's certainly possible. Seeing him in leather was indeed priceless. I'm glad there's been some focus on Johnny Sack and his family. They're wonderful. They all have so much anxiety beneath the surface, the bride/daughter seemed like she was so happy to have what for her was a "normal" wedding - but in the end (from the beginning!) it wasn't. The anorexic daughter was priceless. Ginny is heaven-sent for bored TV watchers, where else y'gonna get a real, pathetic character like her. "I love you Mom, and I'm so glad you almost made your target." Wheeee! More! More! I dig AJ, too. He's turned into a punk, a wise- and a loser. I hope he does something interesting before its all over. Meadow, on the other hand, offers very little to the show AFAIC. Nervous Finn is fun to watch, though. And, yes, ess, (I'm a poet and I don't know it) it was certainly sad. Things are falling apart for nearly everyone. And I'm lovin' it. |

Why, yes, JB, I did. "Rap Dirty" is hysterical. I just got two CDs of his and was inspired to change my MOL name, for the time being. Soon, I'll be soulful again. Last year I saw him live in concert, a dream of mine. He was at Asbury Lanes, in Asbury Park, a very cool club in a bowling alley. Acoustics aren't great but the scene was boss. JB, how would you describe Blowfly for the uninitiated? |

My prediction, FWIW, is that Tony is going to get caught by the feds trying to bail A.J. out of some botched attempt to "prove" himself and then he is going to flip a la Sammy The Bull. Then the analysis of whether he was subconsciously trying to get caught so he could get out can really begin. |

I am thinking of the last scene in Goodfellas when Henry Hill walks out of his too-too suburban home in his robe to pick up the paper just like every other guy on the planet--but there's something in the way that he looks at the camera that tells us that he is always going to have some kind of connection to "the life". The final scene of Trainspotting also comes to mind... |

In case you missed my 1/2 second appearance : Wedding scene - string quartet in background - bald 1st violinist in tuxedo. That is our actual recording of Vivaldi's Spring (3 movement) from his Four Seasons. Want to mention that this cast and crew was the absolute best !!! Wonderful, friendly people with no “I’m a star” issues whatsoever. At dinner break everyone, from the set sweeper to Tony himself, gathered in one big dining room to eat. Buschemi is a great guy as well !

Here's a theory for you (advanced by a friend of mine and to which I don't subscribe). The idea is that Tony picked Perry to pummel because he "appears" to be the toughest guy in the room. But, Tony is not completely crazy. In fact the selection of Perry is carefully calculated because Tony knows he can beat him. How does he know? At the beginning of the show, Tony is admiring Perry's right bicep. There appears to be a small transverse scar on the upper arm. Tony knows the right arm has been injured and is weak. When they fight, Tony sucker punches him. When Perry gets back up to fight, Tony locks up the right arm, Perry screams "ah,, my arm!" and Tony slams him into the fridge. Whaddya think? |

He also picked him because he knew the guy had a short fuse and would fight back. I'm not sure any of the others would do that. |

But notice that when Perry was on the ground he was cowering a little and didn't want to get up. He knows he's in a no-win bind and the beating he gets from Tony is nothing compared to what will happen to him if he beats Tony up. Tony knows this too. Perry is the best built guy in the room, but far from the toughest; the others are all stone killers and hardened criminals. Christpher and the two Middle Eastern guys bears watching. He already sold them phony credit cards and was asked about getting them Tech-9 guns. Maybe Agent Harris is lurking in the background waiting to grab Chris for aiding terrorists (albeit unwittingly, which is how Chris does everything) and will use that as leverage against Tony.

I don't think they are working for they FBI- I think they are on a watch list and Christopher is going to stumble into the FBI's hands by consorting with them. That would piss Tony off on two levels- bringing unwanted attention on the Family and supporting terrorism (Tony fancies himself a patriot). |

The thing I like best about Vito is definitely the way he walks. That sexy, ooh-la-la strut of his. Looks like he had a hip replaced with a rusty pipe. Hey, ess, is that Wonder Woman? |

I was noticing the way Vito was walking last night...and actually, I think that that is his natural gait. The walk of someone who is very overweight and has pain in either hips or knees because of it. Last night he also looked to me like he had gained back a lot of weight...the fact that he was eating like a porker more or less pointed to that for me. I personally thought that this was one of the more boring episodes.

This episode had more laugh-out-loud moments than any in recent memory. The scene in Melfi's office was especially rich. Looks like Carmella is definitely going to be wanting to get more involved in the family business, now that she's seen Angie (I think that's her name; in any case, Big Pussy's widow) in action. |

Maybe not a lot of real action, but tons of plot development and build-up. Plus, as a bonus, lots of hilarious moments (Melfi's office, every scene with Christopher in it, etc.). Every scene with Vito was like a ticking time bomb. He knows they are after him. I half expected some goon to pop out in that little New Hampshire town and make a big scene. It appears, however, that Vito may have found his niche...though the sight of him, with that oversized pinky ring, delicately handling the vase in the antique store, was priceless. Carmela is so blatantly envious of Angie. And Blowfly...yes, it is... |

NO! It's a great walk...it probably is natural since it'd be so hard to come up with and repeat... it really adds to the strangeness of the character. Also, why in the world would any self-resspecting gay person be attracted to that Vito, anyway? |

She may have noticed him, but she was professional about it. I do agree, however, that it appears that Meadow and Finn are close to a break-up. BTW - back to Vito. Loved how he is in this charming little New England town strutting his stuff in a shiny track suit. |
