About Harmonytryx:
In the world of a cappella music, Harmonytryx (Har-mo-NEE-trix) is a breath of fresh air! Self-managed and independent, these women entertain audiences with an eclectic mix of pop, folk and world music that ranges from sexy and provocative to soulful and spiritual. Their unique combination of tightly-crafted vocal harmonies, powerful solos, funky vocal percussion and lively humor has captivated audiences throughout the NYC metropolitan area and beyond.

Erica Cohn (Founder) - Bass & Vocal Percussion
Erica sang bass with the Skidmore College Sonneteers for four years and produced the group's second album. After college, she hit the New Jersey coffeehouse circuit as a singer/guitarist. But it wasn't too long before the urge set in -- the urge to say, "Look ma, no instruments!" In 1991, she began auditioning voices, and Harmonytryx was born. "I know I'm the group schmooze, but somebody's got to do it!"

Angela Marcone - Lead & Vocal Percussion
Angela sang country tunes in a little coffee club in the deep south (you’d never guess it from her accent) at the start of her career. Since then, she’s sung the circuit in country, pop, rock and funk bands—and even had her "15 minutes of fame" fronting a 20-piece orchestra. A music graduate of William Paterson University, she now spends much of her time living the American dream of running her own performance school called The Vocal Performance Studio.

Kristie Damell - Baritone
Kristie Damell is pleased as punch to be the newest member of Harmonytryx! She was an active member in a cappella groups in high school and college, in addition to having perfected the box step and proper use of jazz hands in show choir (oh yes, NJ had those too!). Although she has a BS in Health Education, she realized her true calling as a singer belting out the hits at theme parks, resorts and four-star cruise ships around the world. After 6 years of traveling and living out of suitcases, she has finally settled down in the big apple and is thrilled to be returning to her a capella roots. You can also find Kristie singing with her funk/R&B band Krisp.

Rebecca Green Mezzo - Soprano/Lead
Rebecca has been singing and dancing since she was a wee tot, performing the best hits of South Pacific at her local shul. Trained in voice and dance, she has performed in numerous choirs, dance theatre, show choir (courtesy of a Midwest upbringing) and more. Additionally, Rebecca was the musical director and choreographer of Brandeis University's award-winning all-female a cappella group Up the Octave. Rebecca is excited to be a part of Harmonytryx so that she can continue to show off her fabulous snare drum vp. When not singing with the girls, she is a music and dance teacher, and singer/soloist with the Jewish People's Philharmonic Chorus.

Mary Malyska - Bass
Mary began singing a cappella in high school when she and three friends decided to cut choir and "branch out." Her singing career continued through college, where she sang and directed the Georgetown University GraceNotes while earning her degree in English and Women's Studies. Currently, Mary is completing a Masters in Teaching at Montclair State University and works as a high school English teacher in Paterson. She has been a very organized member of Harmonytryx since January or 2005 and loves singing with the ladies!

Andrea Catangay - Soprano
Andrea, a Long Island native, had her first taste of all-female a capella singing back in high school, crooning to the likes of "Mr. Sandman." After earning a Bachelor of Music in Musical Theatre from the University of Miami, she moved to Atlanta and finished a professional acting internship at the Alliance Theatre. She spent the next few years performing in regional theatres throughout the South and recently made her way back up north. She is now livin' it up on the Jersey shore with her husband and new addition, Devin, and is delighted to be singing "with the girls" again!
