The movie I meantioned in the United 95 subject in on A and E at 9pm tonight. For some reason they are running three 9.11 Flight 93 shows tonight. The first began at 7pm -"I missed Flight 93" It tells the stories of four people who were supposed to be on that flight the morning of 9.11 but for some reason -miracle, missed the flight. The second show is on at 8pm. Can't recall the title. Something to do about being warned ahead of time. The last is the movie. |

Heya Just the aunt: I saw the movie yesterday. I needed to. It looks like, apparently at least, I am the only one on MOL to see it so far, so here's my take: But first, lemme say that the show about the "miracle" people who missed the flight creeps me out. In 2001, my sister was teaching English at the Univrsity in Xian, China. She arranged for a home-leave after two years, which seemed like forever, based on her emails. The travel agent in China had her booked from China (in July) through to JFK, where my sister would then cab to my parents home in Chester, NJ. Ever cab from JFK to Chester? Nightmare. So for the return flight, on September 11, sis tried to arrange for a change to leave from Newark instead of JFK. My folks were helping out with finances, and bought the airline tickets for her on flight 93 from EWR to SFO on 9/11. In order to cancel the JFK flight, and re-book on the EWR flight, sis was given a series of instructions that involved Chinese financial transaction procedures, a lack of fax machines, difficult logistics... There was back and forth between travel agents and sis. You need to go here, sign this, cancel that, need passport, notary... Point is, it's not nearly as easy doing business in China as it is in the USA. She finally said screw it.. just leave me on the JFK flight, and I'll get out to JFK instead. Parents cancelled the ticket. On 9/11, she was at JFK, and was evacuated from the airport to a Holiday Inn by the LIE. All she knew was that the airport was closed and no flights were leaving. Hundreds of passengers dropped their bags on the lawn of the hotel, and gathered in the lounge watching 9/11 unfold, as did the rest of the world. When the news of flight 93 hit the TV, she was destroyed. My folks were interviewed by the FBI for cancelling the ticket. It creeps me out to no end. The movie is very powerful. I suggest people see it. There's a scene that defines the moment for me - it's amazing. I'll discuss it with people that have seen the movie, not those that refuse to. |

Thanks for sharing your sister's story. Another 'miracle?' I saw the A and E movie (Flight 93)last time it was on. That's why I couldn't understand people not even connected to Flight 93 were all upset the theater movie was coming out. Duncan, thanks for reminding people these are two differnt movies. I guess I didn't take into consideration some people who might not have read the other subject might not be aware I mentioned there were two movies. |

Dytunck - I saw the movie (the one in the theaters). Your story is chilling. Thank goodness your sister was not on that flight. |
