I know this child isn't from South Orange or Maplewood but what he does helps the residents of JESPY House, which is in South Orange. I'm going to cross post this in the 'Sports' Topic and 'Please Help.' Jeffrey Baum a young man from Millburn created a website where people who can't their tickets for professional sporting events can donate them to a good cause. The Web site is: www.Tickets4Charity.org. The tickets are distrubuted to the residents of JESPY House, a non-profit organization for adults with learning and developmental disabilities. Jeffery publized his website by send letters to friends of his family, where he explained he created theWeb site for his Bar Mitzvah project; which is in Sept. The pringry School student has received appreciatopn from Wayne Brooks, JESPY House recreation director, who told him the clients are happy to attending sporting events. According to the letter Jeffrey sent, he first met the people at JESPY House five years ago, when his his and several other families spent an afternoon playing sports with the ESPY House residents. A few years later he saw some of the residents at a Knick's basketball game, and it looked like they were having a good time. Many times when his family had tickets they couldn't use, they donated them to JESPY House. His family was told by the staff these sporting events are a highlight for the people who live there. In fact, there is currently a waiting list of people who would like to attend these events. What they don't have enough of is tickets to accomendate the desire of those who want to go. Jeffrey create his site with the help of his technology teacher at the school, and his father helped him upload it. Those who would like to donate tickets are asked to fill in the donation request form. The form will be sent to JESPY and if the organization can use the tickets, the donor will be contacted within 24 hours and asked to send the tickets to JESPY House by the event date. The donations are tax deductible. I'm willing to be bet they would except tickets to plays, concerts and other events! |
