You're invited to a special screening of Long Way From Home at the Ethical Culture Society, 516 Prospect Street, Maplewood on Thursday, May 18th at 7:30. A discussion with the award-winning filmmaker, Kavery Kaul, will follow.
The film is about three New York City students -- from an African American family, a Cambodian family, and an Egyptian family -- as they enter 9th grade at two of Manhattan's top private schools, and tackle the question, "How do we rethink belonging to include differences, and embrace diversity as a strength?
Kavery Kaul, born in Calcutta and raised in New Jersey, is herself a graduate of Rutgers Prep. Very gently, she lets the girls and the audience define their own answers. Refreshments will be served. Hope to see you there.

Just getting it to the top. Kavery is a very intelligent and talented documentary filmmaker. One of her previous films was, One Hand Clapping, which won much acclaim. Hope some of you can make it.
