Can you be more specific about what you might be interested in? (Age, all day vs. part day, etc) |

We've enrolled the boys in the South Orange Community camp run via the Baird Center (Maplewood has one too). This makes year 3 for our oldest and year 2 for the youngest. The kids LOVE it! There are a few draw backs like it's only outdoors (except for toddlers) and when the weather is bad, camp is cancelled. The other draw back is that camp is over around 1:30pm. The camps are held at various parks around S.O./Mplwood and the kids do fun activities, swim at the pool and go on field trips. I'm not sure what activities you're looking for, but you can call the Baird Center and check for availability. It's pretty popular, and it fills up quickly. Good luck! |

The Maplewood Kids Kamp doesn't cancel for rain ... they move inside the MMS gym. Or at least that's how it worked when my kid went a few years ago. It is a half-day program. (Ends at 1:30, I think.) Many older kids love the Adult School summer program at CHS, which runs four weeks, starting the Monday right after school ends. Brochures went out in the mail a few weeks ago. They have all kinds of different programs including sports, arts, music, academic enrichment, and more. This program has an early dropoff starting at 8 (should be earlier, but ...) and then uses the Y's after care until 6 or 6:30, I believe, so it can more or less cover the day for most working parents. There are many other choices, too, depending on ages of the kids and interests. Post more about what you're looking for and you'll undoubtedly get more suggestions. |
