What the hell were those Brazilians doing in Antarctica? I thought it was a commercial at first. Great show. Still confused, maybe even more than before. |

I thought they were Russians. After all, they were playing chess.

ABC message boards have people saying they were portuguese. I'm not sure because I thought it was a commercial too and almost got up. |

Was the woman in the final scene (in bed answering the late night telephone call) the one who met Desmond and gave him the sailboat? |

Desmonds hatch buddy was the intelligence officer who made Sayid torture a guy in Iraq, yes? |

It was the girlfriend Penny. The girl who gave him the boat was Libby who was shot by Michael a couple of weeks ago....... Yeah, very confusing, but great. I kept thinking it was over too! |

re Penny/Libby mix-up.... Oh yes, how non-observant of me. from Lost message board ...there are two (Russian?) guys in a monitoring station in Antartica being paid to check for "electromagnetic anomolies" on behalf of Penny Widmore, who presumably is attempting to locate Desmond that way (she can find anyone she says.) |

They were definitely speaking Portuguese, not Russian. Eric--thanks for that bit about the hatch mate being connected to Sayid--I hadn't noticed! |

The guy in the hatch originally with Desmond (who Desmond killed by accident) was the US military guy in Iraq that was in flashback scenes with Sayid. |

What was up with Charlie at the end? Why didn't he care about Locke/Eko/Desmond? And why didn't he tell Claire what had happened? I know he likes her and all but the explosion was a big deal. |

Those guys were speaking Portugese but with a Brazilian accent, so I assumed they were Brazilian. Good catch on the hatch mate, I didn't realize it until you mentioned it. Geri, could Charlie have suffered some psychological or emotional distress due to the explosion. He was acting a bit weird afterwards. HOW WEIRD IS THAT "OTHER" (the one they originally held hostage)? |

Here's another theory that I came up with after watching last night (which blew me away): Penny's dad (the guy that paid off Desmond to leave her alone) is super rich. He has been conducting experiments in conjunction with the government on his private island with regards to super conductors and magnetics. Penny knows somewhat about this and has enough money to hire the guys in the Antarctica b/c she has a hunch that if her dad were to "dispose" of Desmond that he would do it on the island. She also knows that Desmond, due to his love for her, will not remain on the island and will try to send a message as to his whereabouts or try to leave. She knows this will not be easy and will try to get him back next season with her own army. The Others are a rogue military operation or Penny's fathers army/scientists that did not expect the airplane to crash on the island. This is all supposed to be a secret, the island and all. Desmond set off the machine once before which sent the airplane down. And now there are a bunch of survivors that are willing to fight, which was not in the plan to begin with. So, the Others now go into military mode as if they were being invaded. Trying to protect the experiment(s). Just another hair brained theory. I also feel there is a lot of 6 degrees of separation going on here. Can't wait until next season!

Not all that weird. Henry is the leader. How better to find out about your supposed enemies than to be captured and then persuade one of them to help you out with their kid as a bribe? I'm surprised that Sayid didn't think of this first. |

I can't wait for a Sayid/Henry confrontation! I was afraid he was going to get ambushed when he was snooping around their camp. I have to say that I love the whole Desmond/Penny storyline - didn't expect that one. I hope Desmond's still alive because now I like his character. I'd love to see a Desmond/Claire/Charlie love triangle happen right before Penny arrives to save him. |

Thanks for the hatch mate ID (knew he looked familiar, didn't remember he was the military guy working with Sayid in previous flashback episode). I too thought the Antarctica scene was a commercial! Question: Towards the end of the episode - when the alarm was sounding, all hell broke loose in the hatch, Desmond told Locke it is all real, and he was going to end it/stop it and turned the key in the device-- what will result or change in the overall story as a result of Desmond's action? (also want to add that the acting is really good - Desmond, Eko, Henry Gale, Michael, Walt, the hatch mate guy, Sayid, et al, and the directing, etc.)

An amazing episode, with so many reveals that it was almost too much to take in at once. I'll definitely need to see it again. Speaking of needing to see things again, did anyone else catch this? SPOILER IMAGE, if you haven't seen the season finale: http://lostpedia.com/images/6/63/Busted.png Hmm, perhaps that's a mystery that needs to be explored further... |

Did anyone catch that the pregnancy test Sun took was made by Widmore Laboratories? As in Penny Widmore? That has to be more than coincidence. I found this episode to be riveting, yet totally confusing. Why did the Others keep Kate, Jack, and Sawyer? Will Michael and Walt really get rescued? Did Desmond's actions really cause the plane to crash? If the Lostaways were, in fact, victims of the plane crash, why are the Others tormenting them? Don't they realize that the Lostaways don't want to be there, either? |

Yes, that was the same Widmore. Widmore was also mentioned once before earlier in the season (the epi where Charlie was doing the music video in front of the power station). There was a construction sign on the fence that said WIDMORE CONSTRUCTION, and the producers (Damon Lindeloff and Carlton Cuse) mentioned in their podcast, that WIDMORE is a name to watch out for that is significant to the future story line. I have a feeling it will tie in to the "Lost Experience" soon and we'll find out more about them. My personal theory about the OTHERS is that they WERE dharma initiative people, that found out what DI was about, and sort of rebelled. Alot of talk out there that "henry gale" is radzinsky (the dead partner that desmonds hatch buddy was always talking about) - that he didn't really die...
