This Sunday, June 4, is the local studio art tour, which is an annual event here in Maplewood/South Orange. Local artists open their home studios up to the public, and other local artists are given space at either the 1978 or the Baird Arts Center in SO. Tickets can be bought at either of these venues, as well as at some other locations, which slip my mind right now. The event is only $6 on the day of, and the event lasts from 11-5. In addition to seeing the art on display at the 2 art centers, you are also given a map of the other participating artists and you can go from home to home, checking out the work of many local artists (more than 40 in total). Artwork is both displayed and sold. It's a fun event, and an inexpensive way to spend an afternoon.

You should contact The Baird Arts Center in South Orange and they could steer you in the right direction. Also, definitely go through the tour and enjoy the art and talk to the artists. I had a GREAT time last year. |

Just got back from the studio tour. Saw some beautiful, inspired artwork.
I am in awe of the talent of my friends and neighbors.
There's still 2 hours left.. |
