Anyone know some options for a place to throw a party with 50 or so people?

I was hoping to do something local and was looking for ideas: restaurants, spaces, a neat room somewhere. This is not a wedding, just friends, food, music. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

The Goat in South Orange has a nice space...very jazzy and comfortable. Call to find out.

Also, my sister just went to a small gathering like that at Voro (upstairs).

Diva Lounge in Montclair is a great place too.

Cryan's has a private back room that seats about 70. Thu-Sat nights there is usually live music.

Here's to the Arts is a fantastic place to have a party. You can have the whole thing for a private party if you wish. It's great fun.

Hmm, Pip, you do have a good point. Yet, it is a good party space...

Thanks for all these great ideas.

I agree HTTA might be a bit tight. I'll look into the others.
I was hoping to find some gem of a space that wasn't a storefront, but that might just get complicated.
I heard you can rent out the train station in Maplewood. That just seems wierd. Or does it.

The Elks Lodge in South Orange is great. I went to a friend's party there, about 80-100 people, there's a nice bar, feels like a big, comfortable house-he had a band set up in one of the rooms. It's on Prospect Street 973-762-9848

You might want to check into Burnett BBQ on Springfield Ave. I think they do parties... they had a DJ on the patio a couple of weekends ago, but I'm not sure if that was a party or their own event. Worth a call!

A second for the Elks Lodge in South Orange. Great place for the amount of people you describe. Good luck!

BG Fields in Westfield, just had a shower there, People very accommodating.

Mario's on Chestnut Street in Union.

Glendale Pizza, Union, has a party room accommodates about 40 or so, reasonable rates.
