Are the studios open/interesting? Is it a nice place to walk around? Any other ideas in the neighborhood? And what's the best way to get there from here? |

Riker Hill Arts Park is in Livingston. Not sure if these are the most current phone number: Riker Hill Art Park Association Livingston, (973) 533-9455 Directions: http://www.newarkmuseum.org/planetarium/pages/riker.htm Some history http://www.last-exit.net/essexcounty/index.php?section=dept/p/ri NEW JERSEY—When the Cold War ended, many of America's missile bases were dismantled. One such base in Livingston (pop. 26,600) was preserved and opened to the public as Riker Hill Park. The former command center and barracks have been leased to local artists for use as studio space. D. Bender web page, C - Beaufort Ave, off Eisenhower ((I) Riker Hill Park) [{Bender, D} The IFC area in Livingston is now Riker Hill Art Park. Most original buildings and radar towers (and foundations) still exist. The buildings are used as studios by local artists. It even has a mention in Weird New Jersey: http://www.weirdnj.com/stories/_abandoned06.asp |

Went up there, it was interesting, though not much to see(artists have open houses a couple of times a year, but not this weekend). It would be a great place to work, though.Wonder how oyu get a studio there. |
