Recommended. Fast moving and Meryl Streep is mah-valous. The dialogue and visuals for the fashion scenes are way superior to the (mostly not necessary) scenes with the 'old college friends', and I left a few minutes before the ending as I couldn't bear the painfully predictable outcome, especially after a riveting scene with Meryl Streep that could have led to a much more interesting resolution.

Just a fun chick flick. Went with a friend who was in the "biz" and amazing as it seems, Streep's characterization was NOT an exageration of some of the people in the fashion industry. What a hoot!

I really enjoyed this movie, as did my nearly 13 year old and her friend. I had read the book, and I tend to agree with the critics who point out Andy's whinyness and her boyfriend's career focus. Streep was really, really good, especially as a somewhat sympathetic CEO female. I especially liked the way Streep's character foiled the takeover -- really true to life outside of fashion, among the male CEOs I've seen.

I loved it. They significantly changed the ending and made it feel a lot happier though.

Streep was fantastic.

An enjoyable movie. Basically, it's a predictable formula made for TV type script, but the Meryl Streep infusion sends it beyond.

I also thought the Emily character was hilarious. I saw an interview with the actress and she said she was thinking of John Cleese humor to guide her in the role. That comes through especially in the beginning scene when she is trying to dissapear Andy with frantic hand waving and half finished sentences.

I was less impressed with Anne Hathaway, the Andy character. She was too beautiful to pull off the ugly duckling act (at least they did not pull her hair back and put on glasses).

Also, the bit about her family and friends criticizing her long hours was nonsensical. What's wrong with working your butt off on your first job? I wish I had done that. :-) What if she had gone to medical or law school?

I'd rather have seen more of Meryl and Emily or even the Nigel guy, who was also good.
