Here is a very interesting article about the relationship between Eric Clapton and Patty boyd, whom left George Harrison for Clapton.

She must have some endearing qualities to have some of the most famous love songs written about her; Harrison's song "Something" and Clapton's "Layla" and "Wonderful Tonight" were written about Patty Boyd ....

wasnt the whole of "Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs" written about her? Some other remarkable songs on that album like "Bell Bottom Blues" (do you want to see me crawl across the floor to you?), "Why Does Love Got To Be So Sad?" and "Anyday", one of my favorite Clapton songs, really express his ache (the heroin didnt hurt either), but the one song that really expresses his desperation and heartache is "Have You Ever Loved A Woman?"...

Have you ever loved a woman so much you tremble in pain?
Have you ever loved a woman so much you tremble in pain?
And all the time you know she bears another man's name.

But you just love that woman so much it's a shame and a sin.
You just love that woman so much it's a shame and a sin.
But all the time you know she belongs to your very best friend.

Have you ever loved a woman and you know you can't leave her alone?
Have you ever loved a woman and you know you can't leave her alone?
Something deep inside of you won't let you wreck your best friend's home.

E.C. had it bad...the heroin habit didnt help (Savoy Truffle on the White Album was written as the Beatles watched him tear apart a box of chocolates looking to satisfy a sweets craving while he was laying down tracks for "While My Guitar Gently Weeps"), Jimi Hendrix's death didnt help (he covered "Little Wing" on the album as a tribute to Hendrix who died while Clapton was working on the album).

LOL! ''Endearing qualities?" Is that what they're calling it now?
Just teasing, but I couldn't resist...that got my funny bone!

Yes, she must have been something ELSE, that one.

I still see her as a 20 year old giggly girl in a plaid skirt on the train in Hard Days Night. She certainly was "something", even then.
