Brooklyn is:

Pete Hamill,
Dennis Hamill,
what used to be O'Farrell's down in Park Slope,
the smell of coffee and fresh rolls on Sunday mornings,
pastrami on rye on 13th Avenue and 49th Street,
riding your bike through Prospect Park
jogging along the shore next to the Belt Parkway and watching the kite flyers
the old Hamilton House restaurant and Cannonball Park
The Church of the Generals and the Fort Hamilton base Officers' Club
Peter Luger's downtown
Montague Street and walks along the Promenade
Tomasso's Restaurant on 86th and 14th
Greenwood Cemetery and some of those crazy tombstones
The way light embraces red brick apartment houses around 7 AM on a summer morning

... and a fresh cup of coffee from Connecticut Muffin on 7th ave and 1st, consumed while sitting on the benches outside, watching the day pass by :-)
