Is it good? Im going to Vegas and can really only afford one show at those prices, so I want it to be a good one. Other choices are Danny Gans, Celine Dion (puke) or Barry Manilow (as a throw back) |

Love is the brand new Cirque show set to the music of the Beatles. I haven't heard much about it but have seen the other 3 in Vegas. There is O at the Bellagio which was the best Cirque (or any) show I have ever seen. Mystere is at Treasure Island and it is very good but not as fantastic as O. Then there is a sexy Cirque show whose name escapes me at NY/NY Hotel- adults only. It is very sexy- topless and sensual acts, a very lush theater and plush, sensual atmosphere. In my opinion, the familiar music of the beatles would ruin a Cirque show- part of the beaty is the haunting music created for each show. I have also seen most of the shows as they travel to the NY/NJ area and it is not the same as the shows in their own theaters in Vegas. |

I think that if you have a choice that includes being able to see Celine Dion, you ought to seize the moment. How much do barf bags cost out there anyway? |

I was out in Las Vegas last year at a conference, and managed to catch both 'Ka' (Cirque du Soleil at MQM Grand), and Celine. Now, I have never rated myself a fan of Celine Dion, however, the show is pretty spectacular. The fact that she packs that theater every show with 4000+ people comes as no surprise. She performs about 12 songs during the show, and each is presented in a very distinct fashion - it's like you're sitting in on a real life music video. Ka was a good show - if you've seen Cirque before, even on TV, you probably know what to expect - amazing acrobatics and choreography, and an engaging soundtrack. Of course, the only downside to this is that when I told my wife I'd gone to see Celine without her, I vaguely remember her threatening me with violence She's the opposite to me - she's a definite Celine fan. The only way I could escape was by promising to take her on one of our next trips out... Jason |

Hey, don't hold me to it... it could have been more songs, but I was in Vegas, and I did have a couple of those complimentary cocktails before going into the show ;) |

There is a terrific article about this show in October's MOJO (Best Music rag out there, you can get it at Borders in Livingston). The original idea for the show came from George Harrison and the founder of Cirque de Soliel (They were racecar goombah's). George Martin was brought in to put together the music for the show and he cuts and pastes several Beatle songs together to create something new. He used his son for a lot of the real technical stuff as his hearings pretty impaired. I have seen Cirque de Soliel performances in Vegas and they are pretty impressive. The first I heard about this, I got pretty upset because in my mind the Beatles and Vegas should never mix, HOWEVER, it's George Martin folks, the man who had as much to do with the Beatles sound as the Fabs themselves. I was hoping to just purchase the soundtrack cause I'm just not a Vegas kinda guy but it looks like they won't be putting one out. For a George Martin production using original Beatle material, I'd hop a plane. Now lets see, a George Martin, Beatle production or Celine Dion, thats like asking if I'd prefer Hell over Paradise. As far as Manilow, I wish Mandy would have poisoned him . |

I was just out in Vegas and couldn't get tickets to O when I was able to go, so we went to Mystere instead. It really was worth seeing. Pretty amazing. I do wonder how they discover they can do those wacked out things with their bodies though. Do they just sit around and say things like "I know - let me try to stand on one hand and turn my body in every angle while swinging on a trapeze.." I honestly thought I'd think Cirque was just too strange, but I liked it. It WAS incredibly strange, but oddly appealing. I've never been so uncomfortable watching a show, while enjoying it at the same time. |
