Saw it last night in Montclair - totally worth the 45 minute wait on the ticket holders line to get in to the sold out show. Haven't laughed so much at a movie in a long time, and my husband was bent over in hysterics. An ensemble cast of characters in a family with seemingly impossible differences... well, I don't want to give anything away, because the unpredictable turns of character and plot are what make it wonderful. Really worth seeing.

Hey Ink, I was there too (10pm show) & also really, really liked it! Many laugh-out-loud parts & great characters...in terms of little roles, the guy playing the MC was hilarious

Dammit... husband and i had a rare opportunity to see a movie together on friday night and we opted to stay local and saw Talladega Nights. BAD bad move.

As a consolation to myself, i don't think we would've gotten into LMS if there was also a 45 min wait in montclair on friday. We never would've left early enough.

Yeah, I thought the music was perfect for the film. Cute, kinda campy. I have to check out the band.

Agreed on all counts. What a delightful movie, funny and poignant. Steve Carell was a highlight in a sea of great performances.

Minor thread drift but it's an aunt's prerogative. My niece is one of the main writers for The Office - which as you know stars Steve Carell. Don't know who loves the show - I do, yes I'm biased - but if you only caught it once and wasn't in love with it, try it a few more times for the characters, plot and writing to grow on you.

The Office has been nominated for an Emmy and if they win and you see a tall blond woman go up on the stage with the other writers, you'll be seeing my niece. Go Jen!

Go Jen, indeed! I'm so glad I gave the NBC version a second chance - it really is a fantastic show in its own right.

But that season cliffhanger - AHHHH!!!!!!

I'm so glad you guys are Office fans. Apparently the audience is really growing for it. OK, please remind me of the cliffhanger Project 37. Am I a bad aunt or just getting dotty in my old age? I do remember many episodes actually just can't remember the season finale actually. I especially liked the drug testing one (which actually was written by my niece, whose name is Jennifer Celotta, btw).

Fortunately for her she only inherited my exquisite sense of humor and not my height or coloring.

As far as whether it's worth checking out on DVD, are ess, project and I chopped liver? We basically answered your question before you posed it, duh.

I'm sorry.
Were you addressing me, Ms Chopped Liver?

You're right, of course you answered the question.
what season is the show up to? I am presuming we can at least get season 1 on DVD?

Anyone want to loan it out?

As for Little Miss Sunshine, very much looking forward to seeing it.

I have seen The Office a few times and have enjoyed it. The one thing I do not like is that it is on commercial tv and the interruptions kinda ruin the flow of the show.

Have to put Little Miss Sunshine on my list.

I loved Little Miss Sunshine! One of the funniest parts was when they get pulled over. And the horn!!! so funny. And some poignant family stuff, really heartwarming. (i don't think i'm giving too much away, am I?)

Finally saw it after my sister told me it was the best movie she had seen in years. She said it was hilarious and that she would go to see it again and buy it when it came out on video.

So I went. It was great! Cheered me right up. A must-see, especially if you come from a disfunctional family.

I loved it - great ensemble cast. I'm a huge Steve Carell fan as well - I loved the way the characters changed as the movie builds up steam but there weren't any cheap "big hug" moments.

Olive's dance at the pageant was so hilarious and oddly touching. The build-up with the over-sexualized little girls juxtaposed w/ Olive's innocent/shocking dance is brilliant.

I loved the movie from start to finish - goes straight to my favorite top 10 movies.

25 people in audience at 9:35 last night in the 'Hood Sixplex (?!)

What a wondeful movie from beginning to end in every way.

One question though: Did anyone notice that in the restaurant the ice cream that came for "a la mode" was CHOCOLATE? A friend suggested that the scene where CHOCOLATE was requested may have been cut but that would sure be a continuity issue, no?

Run to see it, all.

David

I saw it last night, too. What a fun, touching movie. Great cast. Alan Arkin gave fabulous performance!! My favorite line of the movie might have been when Olive makes her dedication to him before her dance.

David, I didn't notice the chocolate ice cream error. She ordered strawberry right?

This might be the only thing I've ever seen Steve Carell in so I guess I need to see some of his other work. He was great. Funny in a very restrained way.

Pippi, you definitely need to see the 40-year old Virgin, if you haven't.

We saw Little Miss Sunshine the night before and really enjoyed it. Alan Arkin was wonderful - and the kids were great. The movie was funny and very poignant, too. In the New Yorker the description of it starts with the words "A charming, independently made family comedy about a winner-take-all society - America - that is driving its citizens crazy." I like that take on it - the Hoover family goes from crazy to sane over the course of the movie.

LOVED Little Miss Sunshine! During the whole hospital scene I have never laughed so hard! I thought Toni Collette was great in it as well!

Love the Office as well!!! Can't wait to see what happens with Jim . . .

I am completely addicted to the office as is everyone else in "my office." I watch each episode twice...it's that good.

As for Little Miss Sunshine - loved that movie - best film I've seen in a long time.
