Say you have a few days a week to schedule a regular quality show(drama, comedy, documentary series, mystery, legal or medical)...which 3-5 would you recommend this fall? (please, no "reality shows" or any shows like Nanny 911) |

I'd say "Rescue Me" but it's a summer show. Still, it is really good. For fall shows, what about "The Office." I like very few comedies these days, but that one rocks. Also, "Weeds" is good on Showtime if you have it. And if you can commit to really following a show, check out "The Wire" on HBO. GREAT show, but hard to follow if you miss one or two. |

Lost Battlestar Galactica* 24 (starts in January) *Yes I know -- I thought the same thing. Then I started watching it. It is nothing like the '70s version. |

I like "Entourage" - very funny, plus I like to match up my friends with our Entourage doppelgangers. I'm Drama. Wah. "30 Days" always blows me away - plus Morgan Spurlock is so good-natured - he's the person I wish I could be in a heated situation. Heard great things about " Bulls Hit" but we don't have Showtime. If you have TiVo - "The Daily Show" and "The Colbert Report" are a must - fake news is truthier than real news these days. |

Entourage is a fave here but it will be over in a week or two until sometime this winter. We like Lost, Nip/Tuck, House, Without a Trace and I like Grey's Anatomy. There are a few promising shows coming out this fall as well. I know you said no reality but we're fans of the Amazing Race. |

The Wire is the best show in the history of television, but you really need to start from the beginning. |

Is The Wire on DVD for those of us who don't have HBO? |

Yep, seasons 1-3 are all on DVD, and that's really the best way to watch them anyway. If you have any interest in cop shows, you will not be disappointed. |

We don't have any premium channels so I'd vote for House on Fox, but it will be preempted a bit in October for baseball. I love it - it has a great deal dry humor for a drama and I even got my husband hooked on it. Occasional Maplewood reference, too! Grey's Anatomy is also pretty good. |

Interesting...they are all a little left of mainstream - just my cup of tea. Family Guy is SO irreverant, and funny. I like Morgan Spurlock A LOT! I'll have to check into The Nine. I caught onto Grey's Anatomy, after a lot of the story got good, but I could bite on that (Patrick Dempsey), The Office, yea...Steve Carrell has been consistently a riot in EVERYTHING, House sounds good. I was very into 6 Feet Under in its day, and loved the quirkiness of it. I hear "Brenda" is in the new Weeds show. Fact is, I can really only follow 3-5 at most in a week. There are so many, I really want quality. Thanks for the ideas! Keep them coming, if there are more. |

I didn't mention "24" because you said you wanted fall shows and it doesn't start up again until January, but that show is amazing. We just finished watching all the other seasons on DVD, too....it's taken us six months. Can't think of anything else. All I really watch is HBO and Showtime, with the exception of "The Office" on NBC and "24" on Fox. I'm a big user of the DVR feature, too, so I barely ever watch shows when they're really on. This is a great thing if your life keeps you busy and you keep forgetting when shows are on. You just click in and see what you have waiting for you. |
