I look at the 100s of CD in my office or home and, more times than not, I'll grab something Brazilian, and even narrower, something by Jobim. You? |

I don't get a hankering for a type of C.D., and then select one from that type. I just stick with one C.D., for weeks. It's "These Four Walls" by Shawn Colvin right now. In between monomanias I listen to FUV.

I find that every time I reach for a CD, I reach for the round, silvery type. Seriously, before the iPod era, I would usually not travel without the following: Wayne Shorter: Speak No Evil Stereolab: Dots and Loops Michael Hedges: Watching My Life Go By Steely Dan: Aja Art Blakey: Album of the Year Kronos Quartet: Phillip Glass Steve Reich: Music for 18 Musicians |

I don't have an iPod. Rarely use my cell phone, which, after much hesitation, I was forced to purchase by my wife to begin with. Only just installed DSL last month. Watch LDTV. Also enjoy listening to Enoch Light & The Light Brigade LP's, recorded in HI-FIDELITY STEREO, as well as old Alma Gluck & John McCormack 78's. OTOH, I enjoy having cable. -s. BTW: These kids today... |

I usually gravitate toward a STYLE of music. I invariably want to be relaxed and soothed. Which for me means more down-tempo electronica such as Boards of Canada or Funki Porcini that has few lyrics. I find when I'm concentrating (reading or doing work) music without words is better since my mind isn't distracted processing language. I also often don't want to be bothered by having to switch songs so I will try to find a cd that doesn't have any (or too many) bad songs. |
