I heard this evening that the chef at Cafe Arugala passed away and the restuarant was temporarily closed. Has anyone any additional information?

I believe the chef did pass away earlier this year, however the restaurant is very much open.

I dined there last night, and the food was outstanding as usual.

I am so sorry to hear of this. My husband and I first went to Cafe Arugula on V-Day. We sat next to the chef's "open" grill. He cooked our steaks, kind of gesturing to us and hamming it up while he cooked. later he came and visited with us - what a nice guy! and a great cook! knowing his life ended so tragically and so abruptly is shocking and just so sad. a very tragic reminder to carpe diem, I guess.
