Me and Wifey went there for a bite this evening. Food was very good. Service and atmosphere very nice also. We had Dumplings, Kabob, Curry and Bakalava. Nice place for a change of pace. 2 thumbs up!

Its located on Irvington Avenue in South Orange. Drive Straight down prospect and make a right onto Irvington Ave. Its an Afganistan Restaurant. Enjoy!!

Can't say I had a good experience there myself, (and was REALLY REALLY hoping I would because I love Afghan food but hate driving all the way up to Morristown for it). Our food was bland, our service was horrible (there was almost nobody in the place and the waitress was practically pulling our plates out from under our forks), and the place smelled a little musty. It's been about 6 months since I've been there; maybe they've gotten their act together since then? |

I agree that service was not what I am accustomed to either, but I don't think it was intentional. They were all very pleasant while making service miscues. I also noticed the musty smell. I didn't find the food to be bland, but I was only there once. Have been meaning to return, but we have so many choices these days.... |

I think the"musty" smell is lamb, goat or mutton cooking. I was bothered by it as well. |

I liked the taste fine, but got a huge serving of rice that I felt was meant to hide the fact that my meat serving was tiney. |

The ratio of meat to rice is a little off by American standards, but is authentically Afghan -- the rest of the world has not yet caught the Atkins Diet fever, thank god! I enjoyed the meal I ate there very much, and I thought the portions were fair given the prices they charge. |
