I went to see 'Match Point' at the AMC on 42nd Street in NYC on Friday night and enjoyed it immensely - it has a good surprise ending - and it appeared that most of the audience also enjoyed it as many of them clapped at the finale. It was a little bit like 'Fatal Attraction' without the bunny boiling LOL!

Jonathan Rhys-Meyers is just gorgeous...the guy sitting next to me thought so too! He recently starred as Elvis in the televised miniseries which was screened recently.

I think that the movie may well be on local screens by the end of this week and it's definitely worth going to see:

I saw Match Point a few weeks ago at a screening, and have not been recommending it. I used to be a huge Woody Allen fan, but as has been commented on ad infinitum in the press, he's been off his game for years. As this movie seemed to be winning some critical praise, I was curious to see it. Afterwards, I was left wondering about the hype. Why is this story, filled with predictable characters and plot points, getting so much buzz? Add to this the utterly cold point of view and you have one unpleasant viewing experience that leaves a bad aftertaste. The hour and a half build-up to the last half hour of suspense is just too long (think of how quickly Hitchcock would establish normalcy and then undercut it.) If this is a case of the press wanting to position Allen as a comeback kid (so to speak). I don't think the public is going to buy it.

Miss L Toe touched on something incidentally: it's more fun to watch a movie in Manhattan than in other places. The theaters are usually packed, and they are almost always more responsive.

Manhattan's also the only place anybody sees Woody Allen films any more.
