can anyone recommend a certified viking range repair person? karl's appliances sent us to pete's--but they can't come for 2 weeks. in the meantime, pseg shut off our range due to a gas leak. the problem is in the range itself. thanks in advance. |

I have several viking ranges. I have had a few covered repairs. Are you sure that you are working with a viking contractor??? I have found the service to be exceptional. |

jg: carl's sent us to pete's--a certified viking contractor. however, we are not the original purchaser's of the range and it is no longer under warranty. purchased 5 years ago. i'm not sure if that would make a difference. but, as it stands, they gave us an appt 10 days from now. and that's a long time to go without a range. since we have purchased other appliances from carl's. i'll try contacting them again to see if they can recommend an alternate viking contractor. they were closed when i tried to reach them today. any other suggestions/ideas are much appreciated.

Ask for the service manager, Vincent Smith, and ask him to refer you to High End Appliance or something like that. He's in the 201 area code and only works on high end stuff. Be aware that when we bought a Bosch dishwasher from Karl's and it broke less than a week later, they couldn't care less. Their response: you bought it, you own it, call Bosch and good luck with that. I have not and will never partonize Karl's again. |

I have used Pete's to repair our Thermador oven. As far as I can tell, they're the only "official" Themador oven repair guys anywhere near here. Pete's repair guys were good, but expensive and it is almost always at least a couple of weeks before they can come. Have you tried the Viking web site? I think I found Pete's on the Thermador web site, but that was several years ago. |

since this happened friday and i didn't have time to make more than a couple of calls, pete's was the only contact i made. however, i did just check the viking site and left messages for another couple of certified repair people in our area. hopefully, i'll be able to work this out tomorrow. peter: is vincent smith the service manager at carl's? or pete's? thanks everyone. |

Smith is at Karl's. Nice but totally ineffective. Also, beware of American Home Applicance or some similar name. They were the first people Bosch referred me to and also a failure -- had me describe the trouble on the phone, told me there was no sense in coming out, ordered the wrong part, then called and asked me if they mailed me the part, would I put it in.. |

our gas was off when dan marc appliance guys arrived. they turned gas on. took measurements with the same gas gizmo pseg used. nothing. then tried the old lit match everywhere. still nothing. left and said there was no leak anywhere and to leave the gas on. i came home 2 hours later and the house reeked of gas. we put another call in and suggested that perhaps the gas needs to be on for a little while before the smell is detectable. asked them to come back. i would think this shouldn't be a hard case to solve. anyone else ever have this experience with their viking? any suggestions? i don't know how much more take-out i can handle... thanks.
