Does anyone have one of these that uses a saddle valve to supply the water? I'm told by a contractor that you can't use saddle valves in NJ. Are these things really prone to leaking? This may be the deciding factor if I get this professionally installed, or if I do it myself. Thanks |

Mine is run from the hot water heater in a narrow, copper pipe. The runoff is managed with 1" PVC piping into my sump pump. Mine was about $600 installed--I'm useless, so you may be able to save a few hundred if you're handy. My April-Aire is a good manufacturer of humidifiers, so I've been told. Good luck! |

Are whole-house humidifiers common in our area? I heard that most refrain as it could freeze the pipes in the attic (assuming one has a heating unit there). |
