(sorry, for the repeat. this is also posted on "please help")
we're on the hunt for a kitchen table that would seat 4, but could squeeze 5. ideally it would be a drop leaf, but doesn't have to be. we're dealing w/ a small kitchen here, so this is a tough one. any suggestions of where we should look to buy? we're also not in a position to spend big bucks.

There's supposed to be a restaurant depot in Kenilworth that you can check out. We ended up with a 30" round cafe-type pedestal table, similar to what they use to sit 4 people in coffee shops. You can squeeze in five, in a pinch.

We got ours from the Dover auction - Bermans Auction gallery.

We got a tiger maple pedestal table that seats 4, squeezes 6 (two on one end) and has two leaves for $150.

Here is the link

We have furnished our entire house from here.
You have to go and spend time looking, but well worth it. We have gotten stuff that was varying from great shape to "this needs help." We have never spent over $200, although he has higher end stuff too.

Its also fun to go

Restaurant Depot is not open to the public. You can try the Bowery for small restaurant style tables. We picked up our aluminum kitchen chairs there for half the price you would pay in a regular store.

Lower Eastside. Lots of restaurant supply stores and lighting stores. Just park and walk up and down the street. Don't be frightned though...lots of these restaurant supply guys are a bit surly. Some places are not open on Saturday also.

Tam, I have an Ikea table sitting in my basement waiting for a spring garage sale. It's an oval table that has a built in leaf, with a pine top and white legs, a little scuffed. If you're interested I can email you a picture. I'd be willing to sell for $40.

Taam, I didn't get your PL. The table is 32" wide and 42" long, with a nifty leaf in the middle (it folds into itself) that adds 12". There are four thin tapered white legs, which aren't in the picture because I didn't find them in the basement, but they're there! The top is a shiny birch. Email me at amiemetcalf at a o l dot com is you're still interested!
