We have to remove three trees from our new property (two are growing into the foundation of the house/garage and another is shading the whole lawn and keeping the grass brown). We got an estimate for $2000 per tree from one company, but I've heard we could get cheaper. Is Tree King still in business and would folks recommend them? Anyone else we should try?

used Bartlett, who did a terrific job at a reasonable price. They're also arborists, in case there are any other tree issues to be looked at.

We used tree king to remove one large tree that wasn't to hard to get to. The price was much less then your quote. I thought they did a great job. The contract was very complete and outlined the details of the service they would provide. I would use them again for tree removal.

Spqr, that's a great price - did you have a good experience with them?

Yes, very good experience. They came and checked the tree, faxed me an estimate that included their insurance certificate (without me even asking), and actually showed up to remove the tree a day earlier than planned because of some rescheduling due to weather. They had the tree down, limbs ground up on their truck, the trunk chopped up and the stump ground in a couple of hours. They even moved the cable and phone lines while they were removing the tree and replaced them at the end. They also cleaned up the whole area.

This is one of those things where I agree with saving money. If you aren't trying to save it, why spend more than you have to taking it down? As long as they are insured and you know a couple people who can vouch for them....

Cedar is expensive wood. I wonder if they sold it after removing it.
