Has anyone lived in a home with electric baseboard heating? I noticed that some homes in the area have it, but I'm wondering how it compares to more traditional hot water (radiator) systems. I'm interested in the cost and comfort factors of electric (particularly now that gas and oil prices are high).

It is very expensive to use. Any short term reduction in the relative cost wouldn't last.

Further question on this....we're adding 2 rooms on the third floor, there is one radiator, and we were contemplating adding an electric heater for the room that wouldn't have the radiator, rather than add an entirely new radiator? Or is this easy enough to do?

my house has oil heating except for the 2 story addition on the back of the house where they used electric baseboard heating on the first floor and a weird, through-the-wall gas heater thing in the upper floor. i have yet to figure out how this gas thing works so i have an electric space heater in that room. if the 3rd floor room you want to put the electric heater in, smarty, isn't used constantly (like mine) there are no huge electric bills to be had. i'm sure it's a different story if the whole house is heated with electricity though.
