I'm looking for interior decorater recommendations for our house. Nothing too high-end: we're fine with Crate & Barrel / Pottery Barn type furniture and styles. Also, what are your favorite stores for buying furniture? Thx in advance |

Crate and Barrel in Short Hills mall- the delivery charge is only $50 for your whole order if they keep the item in stock at their warehouse, and they deliver on Saturdays- plus put it all together for you in the correct spot. They have mostly expensive items- but some reasonable veneer stuff as well. We were extremely pleased with the experience. Anyway, I highly recommend the store over catalog/online. If you order online, they use a different delivery company that only comes on a weekday (very inconvenient for me), they don't put it together for you, and they charge you a lot per piece. If you just need help with picking paint colors, Ricciardi has a service for $100 (I think), which then partly goes toward the paint in store. I haven't used them, but considered it. |

Storehouse (www.storehouse.com) has some nice stuff. We just bought a rug for our dining room there. They have a store in Paramus on Route 4. We got our bedroom and dining room furniture from Far-Fetched Imports on Route 10 in East Hanover. They have lots of imported Asian furniture including some beautiful Indian rosewood tables. Also, they have some stunning (and huge) carved Indonesian-style armoires and bookcases. It's not all Japanese lacquer-style stuff. And not that expensive. Cheaper than Crate & Barrel but better made, in my opinion. Room & Board (www.roomandboard.com) has beautiful furniture and a store in SoHo. They are a little more expensive than C&B. I haven't bought anything from them, so I can't really comment on quality. The store is huge – 3 or 4 floors – and the staff is extremely nice and helpful (yes, I've browsed there quite a bit). Hope that is useful. |

If you're willing to travel into NYC, Foremost Furniture has 4 or 5 floors of name brand furniture, all styles at discounted prices. I've gotten a leather sofa & chair, console table & coffee table there over a period of years. The quality is excellent & you'll find things that you don't see anywhere else. Plus, if you like a specific manuufacturer's line & they don't have a floor sample of a particular item, they'll order it for you. They're on 31st St. between 5th & 6th Avenues. Also, I believe they're open 7 days a week, but you should check. |

I can also wholeheartedly recommend Bonnie Canevari [(908) 889-4866]. She is great at formalizing your concepts. She is very reasonable (both in price and in temperament) and has a WORLD of experience.
