The home we just purchased in Mwood has an odd iron banister that we think was installed in the 1960’s. We want to replace it with a wood banister that will look like it is original to the house (the original banister was ripped out). Has anyone tackled a project like this? Any recommendations on a banister maker? Any feedback or suggestions would be great.

We are also looking for a carpenter to fix and install new doors on some built-in bookshelves. Can anyone recommend a good carpenter?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Amym...please report back if any carpenter returns your calls....I've been calling on jobs like these since last February.....no-one called back yet (actually one did, but never followed up after the call). Good Luck!

we used jack sliwa and robert bys for lots of jobs, including replacing the iron railing with wood banister and spindles (we actually still had the banister).

they will definitely call you back. when they can squeeze you in is another question. tell them michelle and chris sent you.

great guys, pristine job, hard workers, clean up great, and very very very reliable. they've done a ton of jobs for us since we moved in june and we've always been thrilled with the quality and service.

jack's cell: 908-358-8709

good luck.
