My house currently has central air on the second floor, my inspector said the blower was big enough to handle the entire house. Therefore I am looking to extend duct work to the first floor. Has anyone done this before and what does it cost. My inspector reccomended trying to find someone to do it on the side because HVAC guys wouldnt be interested in such a small project. Any advice is greatly appreciated |

I used to live next door to a good independent HVAC guy named Al Levitz. Give him a call (908) 688-4141 |

You need a compressor that can handle the added load. The blower will move the same volume of air just over more supplies so less velocity. However if your compressor is undersized you will waste money cooling constantly cause it can’t meet the new demands. If it is oversized you will cool the house so fast that the air does not get a chance to get "conditioned" and remains humid causing condensation and or a clammy environment. In addition with the higher humidity you will have to keep the temp a few degrees higher to maintain the same comfort. Just get a few quality contractors to take a look and ask them to do a "Manual J" calculation to determine if your compressor is adequate. Regards, James Jefferson Property Services Integrated, LLC.
