We would like to replace our drafty basement windows. Any advice? Anyone install glass block basement windows? [I seem to recall a discussion on this a while back, but could not find that thread via "search".]

HA!! Just got mine installed. The look is a little more industrial than I would like, but I also figure the foundation is in need of painting; and the land also needs some scaping. But, when the sun is shining, the basement is so bright, don't need to turn on any lights. Also, with the recent winds and rains, they held up wonderfully (it has been less than a month). The comfort level of my basement and the first floor (still have to add installation) was much improved.

From Glassblock of America. They were at the NJ Home show back in November 2005. 2 guys came in and did 9 windows in 4 hours.

Do you recall the approximate cost per window?

It depends on the size of the window and whether or not you want screens (additional $50)and/or place for dryer vent (I didn't). I have those little windows that children and animals can crawl out of, but not your average size adult (not easily anyway). I believe it was about $400 each. But then I received discounts due to the amount of windows that had to be done, and also from signing up from the expo
