We are looking to install a new 48" vanity, and I'm wondering if you can get a vanity top that is 1 sink only, but not centered. (ie we'd like the sink to be on the left side of the vanity, so that the right side acts more as a table, with more space than if the sink was centered) Any body have experience with this? Any recommendations on where to go for Vanity choices? (Middle of the road). |

What counter material are you using? If it is custom, the bowl location shouldn't be a problem. You also have to buy a base unit where the doors are on the side of the vanity where the sink will go instead of in the middle. We had a similar situation and we ended up using two modules screwed together much like a kitchen cabinet installation. |

Hmmmmmm.....sounds like this wasn't a simple/obvious enough solution for what you did....can you provide more details about how the best way to purchase a Vanity might be? I noticed you can get them with either the counter and bottom together, or you can buy them separately....would love some suggestions....ease and simplicity are somewhat important. |

In general the vanities that come as a "set" are relatively inexpensive. I doubt if you can find what you need in that kind of a set up. We had a non-standard installation. The drain pipe came up on the side, instead of the back, of where we wanted to put in a 48 inch vanity. This required doors instead of drawers on the left side. We ended up buying from Home Despot. At the time they carried a line called MasterBath that had what we needed. This had to be ordered and took about two weeks. We also ordered a corian counter with a built in bowl. The whole thing was, from memory, about $1,000 or so with the vanity in solid maple. We are pleased with the quality.

i bought an antique sideboard, ripped off the top and put in soapstone and put the sink where we wanted. We paid $250 for the sideboard at the dover auction. Good luck!
