Is there a local place that has this kind of thing? (not Home Depot or Lowes)

We got ours at Karls in Fairfield. The Fairfield location has a larger and nicer showroom then other Karls stores. There is also a Karls in Orange on Main Street with 3% sales tax.

You can see the unit in Karl's Fairfield but the actual purchase can go through Orange to save the 3%.

A little drift...

Does anyone know if you can locate a professional grade range on an interior wall and have it vent out the side of the house (vs. the roof) via a horizontal exhaust duct that would run about 6 feet thru cabinets?

Thanks.

p.s. Looked at Karl's in Fairfield and thought the Zephyr brand was a good value - good looks and function at reasonable price.

We bought ours from Paul appliances in Newark. We got a Ventahood and it is working great.

We have vented it from the side of the house with about 6 - 8 feet of horizontal exhaust duct and it works fine....We built a soffit behind the cabinets and ran it through the bathroom...

SO1969 - the hood documentation will list the maximum length of ducting. The specs I've seen have ranged from around 40 to 100 feet, so you shouldn't have a problem.

I bought a Zephyr (from Ted's Appliance Arama in Plainfield) and agree that they seemed to be the best value. It has a max duct length of 100 feet.

I don't think they have what I'm looking for at Karl's. It's I guess a high end one (Sirius brand) and it's not listed in their product line. Tried googling but struck out with suppliers (except online). Thanks anyway.

We have a Zephyr and it's very good. It came out of the box damaged and Zephyr immediately sent replacement parts.

Once again, though, I have to warn you off Karl's. When I bought several thousand dollars of new appliaces, the Bosch dishwasher broke after 2-3 days. Karl's repsonse? You own it. Call Bosch. We don't care. I will never buy anything from Karl's again. Try the chain stores or other appliance dealers -- they often have 30 day no questions asked returns. Not Karl's. Once they droppeed it off at my house, they just didn't care anymore.
