Hey there,
Just moved to S.O. and wondering if anyone knows a hardwood floor refinisher in the area?

You'll find quite a few here on MOL. Personally, I'd avoid Expert Hardwood in Verona - they did my floors and it was extremely disappointing... very sloppy.

Whoever you go with, make sure that you SEE their work - and as always, get a few quotes.

We just hired European Flooring in Bloomfield, NJ to start on Monday. They came highly recommended and gave a very reasonable estimate. They've been very professional and responsive to deal with. I don't have the number on me but they're listed.

Susan! Four posts, four reviews for Claudio. Its amazing!!!!

I've seen an example of Claudio's work - lots of chatter marks and debris in the finish...

R&R Woodflooring in Union on Morris Avenue. They redid our entire house when we moved in and did a fantastic job--reasonably priced. I have to look up the number but they too are listed.

Claudio finished a job at a friends house that is extremely large, and because the job was so big, I'm almost certain that her quote was $1.50/ft.

Claudio Russo just refinished about about 680 square feet of hardwood floors in my house. I think he did a great job. The floors were last done about 35 years ago. He sanded them down to the bare wood and let us choose from a wide range of finishes. He was extremely conscientious and professional and took great care to get corners and nooks and crannys on the stairs. I would definitely recommend him.

Bryant did a neighbor's house - very good work. My understanding, though, is that they tend to be a little sloppy with non-floor-related issues. Make sure they don't smoke in the house.

Don't take that the wrong way - I'd hire Bryant based on what I saw at the neighbor's.

i second what case said. we had handprints on nearly every wall. that said, our floors look great and the price was right. i have a feeling they might have been neater if we'd been around to supervise. or if we had the info you now have and had specifically reminded them to keep it clean. everyone does rave about our floors, so...
