Just had a dishwasher installed that was purchased from Sears, paid $220 for removal, disposal and installation. 1) It sat in my kitchen for 6 weeks, while I waited for someone to call about installation (I called Sears 6 times- once each week) 2) The installers (Riteway Plumbing) tried to get us to pay an additional $50 for a $6 braided stainless whatever [looked it up online]. When we called them on it, they acted like we were trying to pull one over on them (Um, we already paid Sears for installation) 3) When we refused to pay for this piece, they stormed out, left water EVERYWHERE, left the old dishwasher ON OUR LAWN and peeled out. I just don't have that happy "I have a new dishwasher feeling!"
Just watch, we will be fined for having a dishwasher on our lawn. What? We're just washing the leaves! Tra la!

I am on a Sears boycott. It took me forever to return a snow blower that was broken on delivery. No one wanted to take it. Eventually, after being sent three places and talking to coutless people in person and on their phone system, I had the stub to get the moeny back, and threatened to leave the snowblower in the parking lot of the Livingston Mall. At that threat someone opened the door to let it inside. And who opened the door? The original guy who said that I couldn't leave it with him. I haven't been to Sears in almost 2 years. I have no plans on going back. Their service is quite bad. I sad to hear that you have no dishwasher, but hopefully you can learn from this experience with Sears, and go next time to a store that actually cares about your business. |

The sears repair scam--I was victim. However, we bought new appliances through them, which rememdied the need for repairs on our old ones. We installed them ourselves and they have been fine. I agree, don't use them for repairs. |

Hmm, I thought I was the only one! Riteway came in and charged us $200 extra for installation of our dishwasher (said our old plumbing was not the right kind), we paid it because we trusted Sears. Then Sears was a real PIA to deal with when a part on our dishwasher was recalled, didn't show up 3 or 4 times (after we stayed at home all day waiting). |

We had Lowes (don't remember who the contractor was) install our new dishwasher. They brought the new one that week, took away the old one, and installed the new one in less than an hour (with no "suprise" charges). |

We've had more recent Sears horror stories, mostly with buying (they couldn't pull our Sears card up in the system during the 0% finance sale), scheduling (gave us a date, overbooked, arbitrarily rescheduled it for a work day without our consultation), installation (free, except we had a "special" situation, which was not informed ahead of time), etc. etc. We happily discovered that Karl's (3% tax) also has 0% finance deals and will beat any Sears price on a similar appliance; doesn't have to be the same model. Never going back to Sears. |
